A competition seat needs a vehicle-specific fitting frame, and usually side mounts as well. Check the seat width against your car’s tunnel and sill before ordering, because a wide shell in a narrow car is a common and expensive mistake.

Bride seat size guide

Bride seats are Japanese and cut slimmer through the shoulders than the European brands. Our Bride range is the reclining and classic seats, all one size for a 32 to 38 inch waist.

How Bride size their seats

Bride do not use Standard and XL. Each seat is one shell and Bride publish the shoulder width, which is the number to check. The DIGO is the narrow one at 465 mm across the shoulders, built for small cabins. The STRADIA III and GIAS III are 555 mm, the wide end of the reclining range, and their FRP or Super Aramid shells hold you like a fixed bucket.

The EUROSTER II is Bride’s long-distance seat and the base of the ERGOSTER, the STREAMS is the slim-shouldered comfort seat, and the edirb line is the leather-trimmed version of the same shells. The EUROSTER II weighs 14.6 kg, which is typical for the range.

Rails are car specificBride seats bolt to Bride Super Seat Rails made for the car (FO, FG, MO, RO, XL and the rest). Order the rail with the seat; the rail type is set by the car, not by the seat.

For comparison, Bride’s fixed buckets (ZETA IV and ZIEG IV) are 560 mm across the shoulders and 460 mm across the hips, with a 570 by 500 mm ZIEG IV Wide. If a STRADIA or GIAS feels tight across the shoulders, a Bride bucket will too.

Measure yourself first

Four numbers decide whether a seat fits. Take them in the clothes you drive in, and write them down before you compare models.

AWaistAround your natural waist, not your trouser size. Trouser sizes usually run an inch or two under the real figure, and the waist bands on our product pages use the real one.

BSeated hip widthSit on a hard chair with your feet flat and measure straight across the widest point of your hips with a rule or a straight edge, not a tape that follows the curve. This is the number that decides whether a fixed shell is tight.

CShouldersStraight across the back at the widest point. Fixed back seats hold you here, so a shell that is narrow at the shoulders is uncomfortable long before it is unsafe.

DHeight and torsoYour height, and if you are over 6 ft whether that is mostly leg or mostly body. A long body needs a taller shell with the head support set higher.

Before you order

Check the car, not only the driver. Transmission tunnels, door cards and B pillars are what stop a wide shell going in. Our seat mounting and fixing points guide covers what to measure.
Side mount and base mount shells are not interchangeable. Which one you need depends on the car and the subframe, so pick the brackets at the same time as the seat.
If you run a HANS or plan to, filter on HANS friendly. The shoulder openings are cut to clear the collar.
FIA seats carry an expiry date on the homologation label. Check what your championship accepts and how long the seat has left, particularly on discounted older stock.

Will I fit in this seat?
The maker sizes this seat for drivers with a 36in to 38in or 32in to 36in waist. Those are the paper numbers; how a seat actually feels to sit in and climb out of is a different question, and our showroom team sit in these seats every day, so call us with your height and waist and we will give you the honest answer.

What do I need to fit it to my car?
You need the car-specific frame for your vehicle, plus a sliding runner for fore-and-aft adjustment. Tell us your car and we will quote the complete fitting kit in one go. Our sliding runner guide covers the adjustment side.

Does it recline like a normal seat, and what about armrests?
Yes, the backrest reclines, which is the whole point of a sport recliner over a fixed bucket: support in the corners, comfort on the motorway, and access to rear seats. Armrests: not fitted on this model. Our recliner lineup comparison shows how the ranges stack up.

I am a bigger driver. Will it work for me?
Possibly, and it depends on the exact shell rather than the brand. We wrote a straight-talking guide on sport recliners for larger drivers from real showroom fittings, and if you send us your waist and height we will tell you honestly which recliners work at your size.

Bride seats and frames are special order from Japan

Bride products are not stocked in the UK. When you order, we order it from Bride in Japan specifically for you, to your specification. Bride generally hold stock for immediate dispatch, and importing it and making it ready for you takes around 4 to 8 weeks.

Need it for a date? Ring us before you order and we will confirm the current lead time.

Once processing is complete, the order cannot be cancelled

Because each item is ordered from Japan for your order, once it has been processed and shipped to the UK it is non-refundable and cannot be cancelled or returned. This is the same position as our Planted Technology brackets from the USA.
