The Type VGR Vinyl (SS 45) is the base trim of the VGR range: plain black vinyl in three stitching colours (red, silver or yellow). The VGR Vinyl and Suede, Tartan and Premium are the same shell at the same price with different covers. If you want the VGR bolt pitch with plain vinyl, this is it.
The 405mm x 280mm base-mount pitch is the practical point of the VGR within the reclining range. It opens fitment on vehicles where the more common 345mm spacing does not sit correctly. Stitching colour is the only decision at the basket: red for a warm accent, silver for something more neutral, yellow if the build already uses yellow as a highlight.
Steel frame, all heights and sizes, sliders in the box. At £287.50 it is £52 more than the AK (SS 74), which also uses the 405mm pitch but has a different shell profile. The VGR shell sits slightly more upright and gives marginally more shoulder support than the AK. Fitting frame purchased separately. Reclining backrest. 4-point harness compatible. No FIA competition approval. Part number SS 45.
Have you written anything about this exact product?
Yes, we have covered this exact product: Discover the Auto Style Type AK Reclining Sports Seat, and Auto Style Type Classic Bucket Seats Now Available to View In-Store. That is first-hand coverage from our own builds and showroom, not brochure copy.
Will I fit in this seat?
The maker lists no driver size restriction on this seat, so it suits the full range of heights and waists. Those are the paper numbers; how a seat actually feels to sit in and climb out of is a different question, and our showroom team sit in these seats every day, so call us with your height and waist and we will give you the honest answer.
What do I need to fit it to my car?
You need the car-specific frame for your vehicle, plus a sliding runner for fore-and-aft adjustment. Tell us your car and we will quote the complete fitting kit in one go. Our sliding runner guide covers the adjustment side.
Does it recline like a normal seat, and what about armrests?
Yes, the backrest reclines, which is the whole point of a sport recliner over a fixed bucket: support in the corners, comfort on the motorway, and access to rear seats. Armrests: not fitted on this model. Our recliner lineup comparison shows how the ranges stack up.
I am a bigger driver. Will it work for me?
Possibly, and it depends on the exact shell rather than the brand. We wrote a straight-talking guide on sport recliners for larger drivers from real showroom fittings, and if you send us your waist and height we will tell you honestly which recliners work at your size.
