The BS7 is the only fibreglass side-mount bucket in the Auto Style range made specifically for drivers over 6ft. Part number SS12Z, £225 single, black fabric. Weight is approximately 8.5kg.
Sized for over 6ft and 32 to 36 inch waist. If you are over 6ft and need a GRP seat with side mounting, this is your option in the range. The BS6 (SS37Z, £249) covers under 6ft with an integrated head surround. The BS8 (SS14Z, £240) also covers under 6ft without the head surround. Neither of those will suit a taller driver the way the BS7 is designed to.
Side mount puts the driver lower in the car than a base-mount seat on the same frame. Side-mount frames are required; base-mount adaptors are not compatible. Sliders are included.
The polyester back panel on the BS7 can be sprayed in any colour, which is a practical option for a build where the black shell does not match the interior. It is not a standard option across the range.
At £225, the BS7 is cheaper than the BS6 (£249) and the BS8 (£240). The price difference reflects the absence of a head surround and the different driver height target. For a taller driver who does not need the head wrap, the BS7 is the most affordable GRP side-mount seat in the range.
Road and Track approval. No headrest. Works with 3 or 4-point harness.
Have you written anything about this exact product?
Yes, we have covered this exact product: Discover the Auto Style Type AK Reclining Sports Seat, and Auto Style Type Classic Bucket Seats Now Available to View In-Store. That is first-hand coverage from our own builds and showroom, not brochure copy.
Will I fit in this seat?
The maker sizes this seat for drivers over 6ft in height with a 32in to 36in waist. Those are the paper numbers; how a seat actually feels to sit in and climb out of is a different question, and our showroom team sit in these seats every day, so call us with your height and waist and we will give you the honest answer.
Is this seat FIA approved?
No, this is a road and track day seat rather than a homologated competition seat. For events that require an FIA seat, look at the FIA-approved shells in the range, and ask us if you are unsure what your series needs.
What do I need to fit it to my car?
This is a side-mount seat: it hangs between side brackets, the motorsport-style stack with fine height and angle control. You will need the car-specific frame, and a sliding runner if you want fore-and-aft adjustment. Our guide on base mount versus side mount walks through the whole stack, and tell us your car and we will quote the full kit.
How do I know it will feel right, not just fit on paper?
Fair question, because makers publish widths and weights, never feel, and two seats with identical numbers can feel nothing alike in the car. We keep the ranges on display in the Nottingham showroom, you are welcome to come and sit in them, and if you cannot get to us, call and describe your build, as the team sit in these seats every day. Our head support measurements guide shows the kind of real-world data we collect.
