A pair of Sparco Evo L QRT competition seats. Part number 008013RNR-X2.
The L is the large shell version of the Evo, and it exists because the standard Evo is genuinely narrow. Plenty of drivers buy a competition seat, find the bolsters sitting on their hips rather than around them, and sell it on within a season. If that has happened to you, or if you are broad across the shoulders, this is the shell to move to before you give up on bucket seats altogether.
The seat
Fibreglass with QRT technology, which Sparco quote as around 30 per cent lighter than their standard fibreglass layup. Fixed back, black shell, trimmed in velour. Velour grips more than a smooth fabric, which matters in a seat you are strapped into hard.
FIA 8855-1999 homologated, side mount only, four and six point harness compatible. No head support wings.
What else you need
Approved side mounts and a vehicle specific sub-frame for each seat. An FIA seat on unapproved mounts is not an FIA installation, so the mounts are part of the job rather than an accessory.
Ask us for the manufacture date on current stock if you need the seats to cover a season, because the FIA expiry runs from when the seat was made.
If the standard width shell suits you, the Evo QRT is the same seat in the narrower body. This pair is showroom stock.
Have you written anything about this exact product?
Yes, we have covered this exact product: The Best Way To Fit A Sparco Evo L Into Your Mazda MX-5 Mk3, and Customer Car: Mini R53 Track Car with Sparco Evo L Seats. That is first-hand coverage from our own builds and showroom, not brochure copy.
Will I fit in this seat?
Send us your height and waist size and we will confirm the fit. The paper dimensions only tell half the story, and our showroom team sit in these seats every day, so you get the honest answer rather than a guess from a chart.
Is it FIA approved, and for how long?
Yes, it carries FIA 8855-1999 homologation. Every FIA seat has a not-valid-after year printed on its homologation label, and that label date is what a scrutineer checks, so look at the label on the seat you receive and check it against your championship regulations. Buying new means you get the freshest label the maker currently produces.
Does it work with harnesses and a HANS device?
The shell takes 4 point compatible and 6 point compatible. If you are planning the full seat, harness, and HANS setup, tell us the car and we will spec it end to end.
How do I know it will feel right, not just fit on paper?
Fair question, because makers publish widths and weights, never feel, and two seats with identical numbers can feel nothing alike in the car. We keep the ranges on display in the Nottingham showroom, you are welcome to come and sit in them, and if you cannot get to us, call and describe your build, as the team sit in these seats every day. Our head support measurements guide shows the kind of real-world data we collect.
