In this build, our customer opted for a pair of OMP RS-PT2 fibreglass bucket seats. These seats bring a much higher level of support compared to standard options, especially with their integrated head protection and deep bucketed shape. At the same time, they remain compact enough to physically fit within the Anglia’s restricted cabin space.
What makes this setup particularly interesting is that it shows how a more serious motorsport seat can still be made to work in a classic car without major modifications. This slight reduction in width makes a big difference in a car like the Anglia, where every millimetre counts. Even with this more compact design, the fit is still very tight, which highlights just how limited the available space is inside the Mk2 chassis.
In this particular build, the customer had already stripped the interior, which helps free up a bit more room compared to a fully trimmed car. The seats were then positioned carefully, mounted as close to the centre tunnel as possible. This avoids contact with the door cards and clears the roll cage at the B-pillar, especially around the shoulder support area.
From our experience, the Mirco RS2 is one of the larger bucket seats that can be made to fit inside this car, a great seat alternative, offering a more spacious option for drivers who need additional room. The Mirco RS2 measures 580mm wide at the shoulder, wider compared to the OMP RS-PT2, which is 560mm wide at the shoulders. However, due to its wider overall dimensions, it does require more space within the cockpit compared to slimmer seat options.
Because of this, we generally recommend only fitting larger seats like the Mirco RS2 in cars that are not running roll cage door bars. The added width can cause clearance issues when door bars are present, making installation difficult or restricting seating position. For builds with door bars, a narrower seat is usually the better choice to ensure proper fitment and usability.
Although the seat is compact externally, the internal width measures around 395 mm, which creates a snug and supportive fit around the driver. This is ideal for maintaining control during driving, but it does mean the seat is better suited to slimmer drivers.

We recommend the OMP RS-PT2 for drivers with a 30 to 34-inch waist. This provides a snug and secure fit for motorsport use, helping to keep the driver properly supported without excess movement.
Like most fibreglass motorsport seats, the OMP RS-PT2 is side-mounted only. This gives a lot more flexibility when it comes to positioning, which is essential in a car like the Ford Anglia where space is extremely limited and every adjustment matters.
Because there are no off-the-shelf vehicle-specific subframes available for the Anglia, our customer opted for a fixed mounting setup by side mounting the seats directly to the floor. This is a common and effective solution in classic motorsport builds, especially when aiming for the lowest possible seating position and maximum headroom.
To achieve this, they used our Endurance multi point side mounts. These are particularly useful in tighter builds as they feature a wide range of mounting holes, allowing for fine adjustments in height, angle, and positioning. This made it much easier to dial in the exact seating position needed to clear the door cards, centre tunnel, and roll cage, while still maintaining a comfortable driving position.
Mounting the seat directly to the floor also improves rigidity, which is important for motorsport use. A fixed setup removes any potential movement that can come from sliding mechanisms, giving a more solid and connected feel when driving.
For customers looking to build a more road-friendly setup, it is still possible to run sliding runners for adjustability. However, this will require additional fabrication work. You would need to either create a custom subframe that acts as a base for the runners or modify the original mounting points to work with the standard 345 mm aftermarket bolt pattern used by the RS-PT2 and most side mounts.
It is also worth considering that adding sliders will increase the overall seat height slightly, which can be a factor in a car like the Ford Anglia, where headroom is already limited. This is why fixed mounting is often the preferred option for track-focused builds.
Overall, this setup highlights how important mounting and positioning are when working with a compact interior. With the right components and a bit of planning, even a more aggressive motorsport seat like the RS-PT2 can be fitted cleanly and securely into a classic chassis like the Anglia.
