Motordrive Motorsport Seats Arrive at GSM Performance

We’re excited to announce a brand-new addition to our showroom. For the first time, GSM Performance is now working directly with Motordrive, and their latest range of FIA-approved motorsport seats has officially arrived at our showroom.

We’ve recently created a dedicated Motordrive display area at the front of our showroom, allowing customers to see and compare the latest Club Race and Club Pro seat models in person. The Club range is built in Standard and Large. The Classic range adds an XL on top of those, so between the two you can sit in every shell size Motordrive makes before you commit.

Price is the other reason we took them on. Plenty of drivers come in wanting the look and the support of a Recaro, then think again when they see the quote. A Club Pro starts at £395, which puts a proper FIA-approved seat back within reach for people who had written the idea off.

Whether you’re building a track day car, rally car, race car, or simply researching your next seating upgrade, these new arrivals give customers another excellent motorsport seat option to compare against some of the biggest names in the industry.

One of the biggest advantages of adding Motordrive to our showroom is that customers can now physically compare the different shell sizes and seat designs before buying. Choosing a motorsport seat based on dimensions alone can be difficult, especially when every driver’s build is different. Being able to sit in the Standard and Large Club shells, and the XL in Classic trim, makes it much quicker to work out which size fits best around the hips, shoulders and legs.

The arrival of the Motordrive range also strengthens our growing collection of FIA-approved motorsport seating. The Club Race and Club Pro models offer a different approach to some of the more established brands, providing strong levels of support, multiple sizing options, and comfort-focused Classic variations that many drivers will appreciate. This makes them an excellent option for customers who may have struggled to find the right fit elsewhere.

As with all of our showroom display seats, customers are welcome to spend time comparing the Motordrive range against other models we have on display. Whether you’re looking for your first FIA-approved bucket seat or upgrading an existing setup, having the opportunity to test different seats side by side can make a huge difference when making the right choice.

Who Are Motordrive?

Motordrive is a UK-based motorsport manufacturer with decades of experience supplying safety equipment and motorsport products to racers, track day enthusiasts, and professional teams.

The company has built its reputation around producing practical, well-engineered motorsport products that focus on safety, durability, and real-world usability. Their range centres on FIA-approved competition seats, along with the covers, cushions and mounting hardware that go with them.

What immediately stood out to us about Motordrive is their commitment to creating FIA-approved products that remain accessible to a wide range of drivers. Their seats offer many of the features customers expect from premium motorsport brands while maintaining excellent value for money.

The company has continued to develop its seating range in recent years, introducing multiple sizing options and improved comfort features that help cater for a much wider range of drivers than many traditional motorsport seat manufacturers.

Why We Work With Motordrive

At GSM Performance we’re always looking to expand our showroom with products that genuinely offer something different for our customers.

The Motordrive range immediately caught our attention because it fills an important gap in the market. Many FIA-approved motorsport seats are designed around a relatively narrow range of driver sizes, often leaving larger drivers struggling to find suitable options.

Motordrive has approached this differently. The Club Pro and Club Race come in Standard and Large, and the Classic versions of both add an XL. That lets drivers pick a seat that fits their body shape rather than settling for the closest thing available.

We were also impressed by the overall quality of the seats. The shell construction, trim materials, stitching quality, and attention to detail are all excellent, especially considering the value these seats offer compared to many competing FIA-approved models.

The styling matters too. These look like the German seats people aspire to, and for a lot of our customers that counts for as much as the spec sheet. Paying half the money without feeling short-changed on how the interior looks is a fair trade.

They also give customers another chance to sit in, compare and test different sizes before buying, which makes a real difference when picking a motorsport seat.

Understanding the Motordrive Seat Range

Motordrive keeps its seat range relatively simple, making it easy for customers to understand the differences between each model.

The range centres around two primary seat designs:

  • The Club Race.
  • The Club Pro.

Both seats feature FIA approval, fibreglass shell construction, harness compatibility, and integrated head protection suitable for serious motorsport applications.

Both seats come in Standard and Large.

This allows the same seat design to cater for a much wider range of drivers while maintaining the same overall styling and safety features.

Alongside the standard versions, both seats come in Classic specification. Every Classic seat gets the comfort padding system, so you get better lumbar support and larger knee cushions if you spend long spells behind the wheel. The Classic range is also the only place the XL shell appears, so if you need the biggest seat Motordrive builds, that is where to look. Every Classic seat ships with a throwover protective cover at no extra cost.

This gives customers the flexibility to choose between a pure motorsport-focused seat or a more comfort-oriented variation depending on how the vehicle will be used.

There is one more option worth knowing about. The Pro can be ordered with a bolt-on head restraint, which turns a standard Club Pro or Pro Classic into a head-supported seat. It is a custom-order option rather than something we hold on the shelf, and it fits any size in the Pro range.

Motordrive Club Pro/Classic Seat

The Motordrive Club Pro is designed for drivers who want a traditional FIA-approved motorsport bucket seat without integrated head supports. This makes it a popular choice for track day cars, club motorsport builds, rally cars, and fast road projects where additional head containment is not required.

The seat uses a lightweight fibreglass shell construction that provides excellent rigidity and support while helping keep overall vehicle weight down. Its shape features deep side bolsters around the hips and legs, along with supportive shoulder bolsters that help keep the driver firmly positioned during hard cornering and braking.

The brushed fabric trim is durable and comfortable, while the suede-effect shoulder panels help reduce driver movement within the seat. The overall design strikes a great balance between support, comfort, and accessibility, making it suitable for a wide range of motorsport applications.

Key features

  • FIA 8855-1999 approved.
  • Lightweight fibreglass shell construction.
  • Brushed fabric trim with suede-effect shoulder panels.
  • Deep side and leg bolsters.
  • Available in Standard and Large sizes.

The Club Pro Classic takes the standard Club Pro platform and adds several comfort-focused upgrades without changing the overall shape of the seat.

The most noticeable additions are the enhanced lumbar support and larger knee cushions, which help improve comfort during longer driving sessions. These upgrades make the seat particularly appealing for endurance events, longer track sessions, and drivers who spend extended periods behind the wheel.

The Club Pro Classic retains the same FIA approval, shell construction, and harness compatibility as the standard model while providing a more comfortable seating position for drivers who want a little extra support during longer journeys.

The Classic is also the only way to get a Pro in XL, and every Classic seat comes with a throwover protective cover included.

Motordrive Club Race/Classic Seat

The Motordrive Club Race is the more motorsport-focused option within the range and features integrated head support for additional protection. This makes it particularly well suited to race cars, rally cars, and vehicles fitted with full roll cages where head containment becomes increasingly important.

The wrap-around head protection wings help reduce head movement during impacts and provide additional safety when used alongside modern motorsport safety equipment. The shoulder support design is also more aggressive than the Club Pro, helping keep the driver securely positioned during high-speed cornering and heavy braking.

Like the Club Pro, the Club Race uses a lightweight fibreglass shell construction and durable brushed fabric trim with suede-effect shoulder panels. The result is a seat that offers high levels of support, protection, and FIA-approved safety for more serious motorsport applications.

Key features

  • FIA 8855-1999 approved.
  • Lightweight fibreglass shell construction.
  • Integrated head protection system.
  • Aggressive shoulder support design.
  • Brushed fabric trim with suede-effect shoulder panels.
  • Available in Standard and Large sizes.
  • Compatible with 6-point harness systems.
  • Available in Classic comfort specification, which adds an XL size and a free throwover cover.

The Race Classic combines the additional safety benefits of the Club Race with a number of comfort-focused upgrades.

Like the Pro Classic, it receives enhanced lumbar support and larger knee cushions, helping reduce fatigue during longer periods in the seat. This makes it particularly attractive for drivers competing in endurance-style events or anyone looking for a head-supported seat that offers a little more comfort without compromising safety.

The Race Classic retains the same FIA approval, integrated head protection, and fibreglass shell construction as the standard Club Race while providing a more refined seating experience for long-term use.

The Race Classic is also the only Race seat offered in XL. We’re expecting one in the showroom around September. As with every Classic seat, a throwover protective cover is included.

Which Motordrive Seat Should You Choose?

Choosing between the Motordrive Club Pro and Club Race mainly comes down to how your vehicle is used and the level of support and protection you require.

The Club Pro is the more traditional motorsport bucket seat in the range. Without the integrated head support wings, it offers easier access in and out of the seat and a slightly more open feel around the upper body. This makes it a great option for track day cars, club motorsport builds, hill climb cars, sprint cars, and fast road projects where you want FIA-approved safety and strong driver support without the additional bulk of a head-supported design.

The Club Race takes things a step further by incorporating integrated head protection. This style of seat has become increasingly popular in modern motorsport because it helps provide additional protection around the head and helmet area. For drivers competing in circuit racing, rallying, endurance events, or using vehicles fitted with full roll cages, the added head support can be a major advantage. It also helps keep the driver’s head more stable during high-speed cornering and sudden changes in direction.

Another factor to consider is vehicle fitment. Both seats come in Standard and Large, with XL available in the Classic versions, and the integrated head support on the Club Race naturally creates a larger overall shell. In most race and track cars this isn’t an issue, but it’s always worth checking available space around roll cage bars, door apertures, and interior trim before making a final decision.

The Classic versions of both seats are aimed at drivers who spend long periods behind the wheel. The upgraded lumbar support and larger knee cushions provide additional comfort without changing the seat’s core design or FIA approval. These upgrades can make a noticeable difference during longer track sessions, endurance racing events, or drivers who simply prefer a more supportive seating position.

In simple terms:

  • The Club Pro is ideal for drivers wanting a traditional FIA-approved bucket seat with excellent support and easier accessibility.
  • The Club Race is best suited to drivers looking for additional head protection and a more serious motorsport-focused design.
  • The Club Pro Classic and Race Classic add extra comfort features for drivers who spend extended periods in their seats.
  • Between the Club range in Standard and Large and the Classic range in Standard, Large and XL, most drivers can find a shell that fits their build and their car. That is one of the biggest strengths of the range.

Compare All Sizes In Our Showroom

One of the biggest advantages of our new Motordrive display is the ability to compare every size option in person.

Rather than guessing which size suits you best, you can sit in the Standard and Large Club shells and the XL Classic and feel the difference in shoulder width, hip width and seating position straight away.

This is especially important with FIA motorsport seats, where proper fitment plays a huge role in both comfort and safety.

Being able to directly compare the entire range side by side helps remove much of the uncertainty that often comes with buying a motorsport seat online.

Final Thoughts: A Strong New Addition to Our Motorsport Seat Collection

The arrival of Motordrive marks an exciting addition to our growing motorsport seating range. Their combination of FIA-approved safety, multiple sizing options, quality construction, and excellent value makes them a very appealing option for a wide range of drivers.

Whether you’re looking for your first motorsport seat, upgrading an existing setup, or searching for a seat that finally fits properly, the new Motordrive collection gives customers even more choice than ever before.

With the Club Race and Club Pro on display in Standard and Large, and the Classic range covering XL, it is worth coming in to compare the seats in person and find the model that suits your build and your car.
