Customer Question: Corbeau PSR Seats In A 1999 Evo VI GSR

Customer question, answered properly

In from a customer this week: a 1999 Lancer Evolution VI GSR, the CP9A, and a pair of Corbeau PSR recliners he would like in it. The seats are a good call for the car. The part that decides whether they go in properly is the rail, and on an Evo of this generation the rail is a BRIDE.

The short version: the PSR sits on the genuine BRIDE MO sliding seat rail for the CD9A to CP9A Evolutions, one rail per side, straight onto the factory floor points. The same rail also takes the Sparco R100 and the Sparco R333, so the seat choice can change without the fitting answer changing. The rest of this page is why, and what it costs.

  • The BRIDE MO sliding rail is the genuine vehicle-specific rail for the CD9A, CE9A, CN9A and CP9A Evolutions
  • It carries both the 345 by 271 and the 330 by 290 bolt patterns, so the PSR drops straight on
  • One rail per side at £282.00, and it is the slide as well, so no separate runner
  • The Sparco R100 and Sparco R333 sit on the same rail with no change to the fitting answer
  • A pair of PSRs on BRIDE rails is £1,122.00 all in

I have a 1999 Mitsubishi Evo VI GSR and want to fit Corbeau PSR reclining sports seats. What do I need to mount them, and are there other seats that would work the same way?

The question, as it arrived

The straight answer

The Corbeau PSR fits, and it goes in on the genuine BRIDE MO Super Seat Rail for the Lancer Evolution, the rail BRIDE list for the CD9A, CE9A, CN9A and CP9A cars, which puts a 1999 Evo VI GSR squarely in the middle of its application list. It bolts to the car’s original floor mounting points, it is handed, so driver and passenger sides are separate orders, and it is a sliding rail in its own right: the fore and aft adjustment is built in, so there is no separate runner to buy.

The reason it suits the PSR so well is on the top plate. The MO carries two bolt patterns, 345 by 271 and 330 by 290, and the PSR is drilled for both. Seat meets rail on either pattern without an adaptor. Cameron’s note when he specs this combination: it is one of the few installs on a nineties Evo that needs no thinking about brackets at all.

The PSR is sold as a pair, the rail per side, and the R100 above is the first of the alternatives explained further down. Everything here is an example from the BRIDE range and the recliner ranges rather than the whole list; the rail is the constant.

BRIDE’s own dimension sheet for the MO rail: both bolt patterns on one top plate, which is the whole reason the PSR, the R100 and the R333 all fit it.

Why the PSR suits an Evo VI

The PSR is one of the two slim recliner shells Garreth reaches for when a cabin has a substantial tunnel and a door card close to the seat, which describes an Evo VI exactly. It is cloth, it reclines, it is drilled for both base patterns, and our listing sizes it for all heights with a 32 to 38 inch waist range across the two bolster options. Against the factory Recaro it gives you a fresh seat with proper bolstering and a mechanism that still works, without the cost of restoring a twenty five year old original.

The listing carries one honest line worth repeating here: check the seat width against the car’s tunnel and sill before ordering. On an Evo VI the PSR clears; tell us your waist size and Cameron will confirm which bolster option to send.

The other seats that use the same rail

Because the MO rail carries the 345 by 271 pattern, any base mount seat on that pattern goes on it unchanged, and two from Sparco are worth naming. The R100 at £282.00 is the other slim shell we name for tight cabins, a tubular steel recliner in cloth or vinyl, honest at 13kg. The R333 at £449.47 is the compact end of the Sparco range with an integrated headrest and harness slots, sized for drivers under six foot. Pick any of the three and the rail, the price of the rail and the fitting method do not move.

The honest word on seat height

A recliner on a rail sits level with the standard seat, never lowerThe PSR rides on the BRIDE rail, and the rail stands where the factory rail stood, so you finish at the height the car had you before, not below it. If dropping the seating position is the goal, for a helmet or a tall driver, that is a fixed back bucket conversation and a different rail choice, and we would rather have it on the phone than here. For a road Evo that wants better support and a seat that still reclines, the PSR at standard height is right.

Two fitting notes for the day itself. The rail uses the original floor points, so there is no drilling on a standard floor. And check the seat belt buckle clearance once the seat is in, because a sports seat often puts the buckle somewhere new; our seat belt integration guide covers the whole subject if the buckle needs a rethink.

Common questions

Yes. The BRIDE MO rail on our site is listed for the Lancer Evolution CD9A, CE9A, CN9A and CP9A, and a 1999 Evo VI GSR is a CP9A. Send the registration when you order and Cameron double checks it against the application table while you are on the phone.

No. The BRIDE MO is a sliding seat rail, so the fore and aft adjustment is built into it. Seat bolts to rail, rail bolts to floor, and that is the stack.

The MO top plate carries the 345 by 271 pattern that Sparco, OMP and Corbeau base mount seats share, alongside the 330 by 290 pattern. BRIDE build it that way deliberately, which is why it is the rail we reach for on this car.

The rail also carries the 330 by 290 pattern, so a Cobra base mount seat is a sensible question. Tell us the exact Cobra model and we will confirm before you order, because Cobra tailor some of their frames to specific seats.

Usually, and for decent money on a GSR. Keep them complete with the runners and trim until the new seats are in and you are happy, then list them; the Evo community buys originals quickly.

The next stepTell us the registration and your waist size

That confirms the rail against the car and picks the PSR bolster option in one go. Ring 0115 9893488, and if you are choosing between the PSR, the R100 and the R333, all three are in the showroom to sit in, which settles it in minutes.
