Customer Question: Evo 5 Recaros Into A Honda Integra DC2

Honda Integra DC2

Phone call this week. Bloke has a Honda Integra DC2 and a pair of Recaros out of an Evo 5, the bottom mount ones, and he wants to know what he needs. Short answer, a Planted bracket and a runner cut to the Recaro bolt pitch, which is a job we do most weeks and is not the interesting part of the call.

Cameron asked the better question before Garreth had finished writing the part numbers down. “Is it a Type R? Because if it is, he has already got Recaros in it.”

  • Planted do a DC2 bracket, SB031, and that is the one we would use
  • Recaro bottom mounts use their own bolt pitch, so a standard runner will not line up
  • The two lowest DC2 mounts we sell are side mount, so a bottom mount seat cannot use them
  • Measure your seat base before ordering anything, because it settles the runner

The DC2. Lovely thing, and it sits you higher than you would like.

If it is a Type R, it already has Recaros in it

The DC2 Type R left the factory with Recaros in it, and on a car people are now buying as an investment those seats are a real slice of what it is worth.

So if yours is a Type R, you are taking Recaros out to put different Recaros in. That can still be exactly the right call. A worn factory seat in a car that gets tracked is a fair reason, and so is wanting a harness through the back of the seat instead of round the side of it.

Garreth’s only ask is that you keep the originals. Box them, keep every fixing, label them, put them somewhere dry. A good pair fetches serious money and the people who sell them on tend to want them back about four years later.

Standard DC2 rather than a Type R? None of that applies and you can get on with it.

What bolts to what

Three parts and the floor. Planted make a bracket for this car, part SB031, and where Planted make one that is what we put people on. It picks up the factory mounting points, so nothing gets cut and nothing gets drilled.

These three hold a seat byits sides instead.

Prices inc VAT. Planted and the bracket price are per seat, so a pair is two of each. No heights are shown because we do not hold a measured figure for these parts.

Either runner will do the job. The Endurance one is £95.04 and is cut to the Recaro bolt spacing. Recaro’s own double locking runner is £166.94, gives 220mm of travel, and releases both rails at once so the seat cannot creep or twist under braking. On a car that sees track days Garreth will push you at the Recaro one and he will not apologise for it.

Count carefully, because Planted price a bracket as one side of the car and a pair of seats means two brackets and two sets of runners. And the rails that came off the Evo with the seats do not carry over: they are cut for the Evo floor and are no use to you here.

Measure the seat base before you order anything

Turn one of the seats upside down and measure the bolt holes in the base, centre to centre, across the car. That single number decides which runner you need and it is the difference between bolting the seat straight on and getting the drill out.

Recaro do not use the pitch everyone else uses. Our Endurance runner is cut to Recaro’s 405mm spacing, where a standard slider follows the FIA 290mm centres that most seats are drilled for. Put a seat on the wrong one and the holes simply are not there.

That 405mm figure is quoted for Recaro competition shells though. Yours is an OEM reclining seat out of a road car and it may well be a different pitch again, which is exactly why we would rather you measured than trusted a number off a web page. Two minutes with a tape saves a wasted delivery.

Send us the number, or a photo of the underside with a tape across it, and we will tell you which runner fits.

What to send usThe bolt centres across the seat base, whether the car is a Type R or a standard DC2, and your height. Ring the showroom on 0115 9893488 or send the photo over and we will put the list together before anything ships.

The two lowest DC2 mounts are closed to you

A DC2 sits you higher than most people want, so the obvious move is to chase the lowest mount you can find. On this car that road is shut.

PCI do the lowest seat fitment we sell for the DC2 and a sliding version alongside it. BRIDE do their Super Seat Rails for the DC2 and DB8. Every one of them holds the seat by its sides, and a bottom mount seat bolts through its base, so none of them is an option while that Recaro is the seat.

“Which is fine,” says Cameron. “A bracket and a runner under a reclining seat is a normal road setup. It is what the car came with anyway.”

Garreth just wants you to know the trade before you spend. If getting properly low is the whole point of the exercise, the thing to change is the seat, not the mount. There is more on the difference in base mount or side mount.

Common questions

No. They are cut for the Evo floor. The seats come off them and go onto a DC2 bracket.

Two for a pair of seats. The listing is sided, so pick driver and passenger separately, and watch the Planted side codes: their naming is American, so on a right hand drive car the driver takes the PA code.

Yes. The Planted bracket picks up the factory seat mounting points. A drilled floorpan is permanent and it will come up when you sell.

Not by much. A bracket and a runner under a reclining seat sit you roughly where a reclining seat sits you.
