Customer Car: Honda Civic EP3 With Corbeau Seats

We supplied one of our customers with a pair of Corbeau Pro Series X bucket seats for their track prepared Honda Civic EP3: a System 3 in Carbon and Kevlar, and a System 1. The car also has a roll cage and TRS harnesses.
The seats went in on M2 direct fit sub-frames for the EP3, which line up with the Corbeau seats' fixing points. Here is the finished interior and how it all fits together.

The car
This EP3 has been stripped for the track, with a roll cage in the cabin and TRS harnesses on both seats. The painted red shell shows through everywhere the trim used to be.
A car like this changes direction quickly, and a road seat lets you move around once it is loaded up in a corner. With a snug shell and a harness pulled tight, you are no longer holding yourself in place, which makes the car easier to drive hard.
Two versions of the Pro Series X
The Pro Series X is Corbeau’s FIA 8855-1999 competition seat without head protection, so the shell stops at shoulder height and clears a cage more easily than a seat with head wings. It has five harness slots, a HANS zone at the shoulder and a split front leg cushion.
The two seats in this car use different shells. The System 3 is Carbon and Kevlar, the lighter of the two; the System 1 is Kevlar and glass fibre. Both come in the same size, suited to drivers under 6ft with a 32 to 36 inch waist, and an XL version of each exists for a wider hip.

The M2 frames
The seats sit on M2 direct fit sub-frames for the Civic EP3 and EP2. The frame replaces the factory runners and bolts to the original floor mounting points, with no drilling, and it has 290mm side mount holes that suit the Corbeau seats.
Using frames designed for the car keeps the seat solidly mounted at a sensible height, which matters as much for the harness angles as for comfort.
