Custom Cages, Vauxhall and Opel
Thirty-eight kits in the Custom Cages Vauxhall and Opel range, and Cameron goes through the list more often than you might think. The Astra and Corsa bring most of the enquiries, but the Chevette kits and the Firenza Historic are the two he flags most to people coming in who did not know the support was still this deep. Both have been in British club motorsport long enough that the range feels like it should have dried up by now.

Six-point National, bolt-in
The entry kits on the Astra, Corsa, Nova, Chevette and VXR8. Fits with hand tools and no fabricator. Right for track day use and lower-level national classes where a full weld-in cage is not required.

Multipoint, weld-in
CDS and T45 options across most of the range. Needs a fabricator to install properly and is the step up once you are racing at a level that asks for it.

Historic and National spec
The Chevette Multipoint, the Firenza Historic, the Viva HB and a National spec six-point on the Chevette. Built for period bodyshells in specific class applications. Worth a call to Cameron before ordering.
Astra: three generations, nine kits
Nine kits across the MK2/3, MK4 and VXR MK5. Every generation has a six-point National bolt-in at £889 and Multipoint weld-in options in CDS or T45. The MK2/3 also runs a full International Multipoint in both steels. Cameron gets asked about Astra kits more than anything else in the Vauxhall range, so if you are not certain which generation yours is or which spec the class you are building for asks for, ring and he will go through it with you.

Corsa and Nova
Six Corsa kits and three for the Nova. The Corsa B and Corsa C 00 each have the same three levels: a six-point National bolt-in, an International Multipoint in CDS and an International Multipoint in T45. The Nova has an International Multipoint CDS, a six-point National CDS, and the Lightweight International Multipoint, which is a lighter tube arrangement for the cars running that class. If your car is an Opel Kadett, that range is in the Opel section further down.
Classics: Chevette, Firenza, Cavalier and Viva
The Chevette is the one that surprises people. It ran a national race series for years and Custom Cages still build three kits: Multipoint CDS, Multipoint T45, and a six-point National CDS for the lower classes. The Firenza gets two Historic kits in CDS and T45. The Cavalier MK3 88-95 runs a Multipoint CDS and a Multipoint T45. The Viva HB has a single Historic T45 weld-in at £1,425 inc VAT.
Garreth’s note on the Historic kits: they are built for period bodyshells running in specific class applications. If you are building for a named championship, tell Cameron the class before ordering and he will confirm the kit is right for that ruleset.
VXR8 and Adam International
The VXR8 is the Holden Commodore sold in the UK under the Vauxhall badge. Custom Cages build three kits: a six-point National CDS bolt-in, a Multipoint CDS weld-in and a Multipoint T45 weld-in. The Adam International runs a single Multipoint T45 weld-in. Both are niche builds and Cameron is the one to speak to before ordering.
Opel models: Kadett, Ascona, Manta B and Commodore
Opel sold these bodyshells on the Continent while Vauxhall sold the same cars in the UK. The kits are the same tube and the same build, listed under the Opel model name. Custom Cages build eight kits for four Opel models. The Kadett gets a Multipoint CDS, a Multipoint T45 and a Kadett C Historic T45. The Ascona has a B 400 Historic T45 and two plain Ascona Historic kits in CDS and T45. The Manta B and the Commodore each have a Multipoint T45 weld-in.

Common questions about the Vauxhall range
Which Astra kit fits which class?
Custom Cages list kits by generation (MK2/3, MK4, VXR MK5) and by spec level. The right one depends on what the championship you are building for requires. Ring 0115 9893488 and Cameron will confirm the kit and the steel before you order.
What does "National Spec" or "International" mean on the kit name?
Custom Cages’ own naming for the level of bracing the cage is built to. National for UK national events and International for the fuller braced specification. Neither is a Motorsport UK or FIA term on its own, so check your championship’s own regulations rather than going by the kit name alone.
Should I go CDS or T45 for a Vauxhall cage?
For most Astra and Corsa club builds, CDS built to the published spec is a proven, legal cage. T45 earns its place once you are at a level where weight savings matter or the specific kit you want only comes in T45. Are the Opel kits the same as the Vauxhall kits?
Same tube and the same build spec, just listed under the Opel model name. The Opel Kadett and the Opel Ascona share bodyshell designs with their Vauxhall equivalents. If you have an Opel-badged car and are not sure which kit applies, tell Cameron the model name and build year.
Can I fit this myself or do I need a fabricator?
The six-point National bolt-in kits are designed to fit with hand tools and no welding. The Multipoint and International weld-in kits need a fabricator to install them properly. If you are not sure which type your class requires, ring before you order.
