The 911 and 964
The 911 range carries the most variety of any Porsche model in this guide. There are four kits built around the generic 911 platform covering 1973 to 1998, plus two kits specific to the 964 generation.
The Bolt-in T45 at £2,274 is the only bolt-in cage in the whole Porsche range, which makes it worth knowing about if you want a cage whose tubes bolt together and bolt to its own feet and spreader plates. The footplates still need welding to the shell by a competent welder. The Historic T45 at £1,653 and the Straight Door Bar Historic T45 at £1,995 are historic specification cages. The Multipoint 1973-1998 T45 at £2,274 is the standard competition-spec weld-in for the broad 911 range. The Straight Door Bar variant uses a straight lateral member rather than the angled design in the standard Multipoint. If you are building for a specific class and are not sure which cage the championship calls for, drop us an email or click to open a chat and we’ll confirm before you order.
The 964-specific kits offer a lower entry point: the 6-point National Spec CDS at £889 and the International Multipoint T45 at £1,818. If you are building a 964 for national club events, the 6-point National Spec is the practical starting point. The International Multipoint is for builds that need the higher specification cage.
| Kit | Fixing | Steel | Price (inc VAT) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 911 Historic | Weld-in | T45 | £1,653 |
| 911 Straight Door Bar Historic | Weld-in | T45 | £1,995 |
| 911 Bolt-in | Bolt-in | T45 | £2,274 |
| 911 Multipoint 1973-1998 | Weld-in | T45 | £2,274 |
| 964 6-point National Spec | Weld-in | CDS | £889 |
| 964 International Multipoint | Weld-in | T45 | £1,818 |
Prices include VAT. The 911 Bolt-in is the only bolt-in cage in the Porsche range, and its footplates are still welded to the shell.
911: all four kits
964: both kits
The transaxle range: 924S, 944 and 968
The 924S, 944 and 968 follow the same pattern: a 6-point National Spec CDS at £889, a Multipoint CDS at £1,311 and a Multipoint T45 at £1,818. The 944 also carries a separate 6-point National Spec CDS listing. Eight kits across the three models, all weld-in.
Garreth’s view on the steel choice: for most club-level builds on the transaxle Porsches, CDS built to the published specification is the sensible pick. T45 earns its place when the class or build level calls for it. If you are not sure which applies, drop us an email or click to open a chat and we’ll go through it with you before you order.

The 914
Two kits for the 914: a Multipoint CDS at £1,311 and a Multipoint T45 at £1,818. Both are weld-in. The 914 is a mid-engined two-seater, which makes the roll cage fitment different from a rear-engined 911. If you need confirmation that a kit suits the spec you are building to, drop us an email or click to open a chat before ordering.
The 996, 997, Boxster and Cayman
The water-cooled range is T45 Multipoint weld-in across the board. The 996 International Multipoint T45 and the 997 Lightweight International Multipoint T45 are both priced at £1,932. The “Lightweight International” designation on the 997 kit is Custom Cages’ own name for a lighter-weight version of the International spec. The Boxster and Boxster Challenge kit covers both the standard Boxster and the factory challenge variant. The Cayman Multipoint T45 is the single kit for that model. All four are priced at £1,818 except the 996 and 997, which sit at £1,932.
| Model | Kit | Price (inc VAT) |
|---|---|---|
| 996 | International Multipoint T45 | £1,932 |
| 997 | Lightweight International Multipoint T45 | £1,932 |
| Boxster and Boxster Challenge | Multipoint T45 | £1,818 |
| Cayman | Multipoint T45 | £1,818 |
All four kits are T45 weld-in. Prices include VAT.
The 356
One kit for the 356: the International Historic T45 at £2,046. This is a historic specification cage for the pre-911 Porsche. If you are building a 356 for competition and need to confirm it suits the class rules, drop us an email or click to open a chat before ordering.

Not sure which kit fitsTell us the model, the year and the class
The 911 range has four overlapping kits and the right choice depends on the chassis year and the championship. For the 964 the question is usually which spec the class asks for. For the 996 and 997 the International and Lightweight International designations are Custom Cages' own naming, and Cameron can confirm which one the championship wants. Ring 0115 647 8650 and Cameron will narrow it down before you order.
Common questions about the Porsche range
Is there a bolt-in cage for the Porsche 911?
Yes. The Custom Cages 911 Bolt-in T45 at £2,274 is the only bolt-in cage in the Porsche range. Its tubes bolt together and the cage bolts to its own feet and spreader plates, but the footplates still need welding to the shell by a competent welder. Everything else in this guide is weld-in and needs a fabricator to install properly.
Which kit fits the 964?
Custom Cages list two kits for the 964: a 6-point National Spec CDS at £889 and an International Multipoint T45 at £1,818. Both are weld-in. Check your championship’s own regulations for which specification it asks for before ordering.
What does "Straight Door Bar" mean on the 911 kit?
It is Custom Cages’ own name for a historic specification cage that uses a straight lateral member design, compared to the angled doorbar on the standard Multipoint. If you are building for a specific class and need to confirm which design the championship wants, drop us an email or click to open a chat and we’ll check before you order.
What is the difference between the CDS and T45 kits?
For most club-level builds, CDS built to the published specification is the practical choice. T45 earns its place when the class or build level calls for it. Our T45 vs CDS guide covers the full decision in detail.
Does the Boxster kit fit all Boxster years?
The Custom Cages listing covers the Boxster and Boxster Challenge. If you have a specific year and want to confirm fitment before ordering, drop us an email or click to open a chat and we’ll check it with Custom Cages.
Is the 996 kit the same specification as the 997 kit?
The 996 is listed as International Multipoint T45 and the 997 as Lightweight International Multipoint T45. Both are priced at £1,932 inc VAT. The Lightweight International on the 997 is Custom Cages’ own naming for a lighter-weight version of their International specification. Check your championship’s regulations for which specification it calls for.
