Motordrive • Driver fit
Which Motordrive seat would we put in your car? Before we pick a model, we would want you sat in one. The cockpit photographs Motordrive sent us this month are a useful place to start that conversation.
Cameron's first concern is where your hips and shoulders sit. Garreth wants to know what the complete installation will cost. We need both answers before calling any seat a good buy.
A seat can feel right on its own and still need careful planning around the steering wheel, roof and door. Here is what we would check with you before ordering.
- Try the fit around your hips, shoulders and thighs.
- Check the driving position with the mounting hardware included.
- Compare the complete fitted cost, not just the seat price.

Start with the person in the seat
Cameron would start at your hips. We want you settled into the seat, with support in the right places and enough room to sit naturally. A waist measurement helps us narrow the choice, but it cannot tell us exactly how your shoulders or thighs will feel against a particular shape.
Give it a few minutes. Reach forwards as you would for the wheel, move your feet and notice whether you are holding yourself away from an uncomfortable point. For a competition installation, bring the equipment you will actually wear so we can discuss the position with that in mind.
Garreth's buying view is to sort that fit before paying for a different trim or finish. We can compare those details once we have a shape worth comparing.
Motordrive describes individual fitting and padding adjustment as part of its approach. If you need a particular change, we will check the available specification with them before you order. You can read their fitting approach here.
Then put the driver back into the cockpit
The first photo shows why the surrounding space matters. The seat is only one part of a driving position, alongside the steering wheel, pedals and the height created by the fittings underneath it.
Cameron would check the proposed seat and mount combination together. We need the exact car, the driving side and any existing seat fittings, plus details of a cage or other changes that affect the available space. Photos help us see what you are working around.
With a head-support design, include the upper part of the cockpit in that check. We would look at clearance, the view from the intended driving position and the space you use to get in and out. The paddock photo is a useful view of a seat before it goes into that much busier space.

A buying checklist, not a dimensional drawing. We check the actual seat and car combination separately.
Three Motordrive seats to put on the shortlist
Garreth would start the price comparison with the Club Pro at £474 including VAT. Cameron would keep the choice open until we have checked the fit and intended use. A higher price does not settle either of those questions.
These are three individual-seat listings to compare, with starting prices checked on 10 October 2026. Open each product for the current options and price, then use our Motordrive brand guide if you want the wider range alongside them.
More from Motordrive's photo pack

Three more photographs supplied by Motordrive from its October dealer pack.
What to send us before we recommend one
- Your car's make, model, year and driving side.
- How you use it, and the series or event requirements if you compete.
- Your height, waist measurement and what you like or dislike about the current seat.
- Photos of the current driving position and any existing frames, mounts or cage.
- Whether one person drives it or the seat needs to work for several drivers.
From there, we can work through the seat and fittings as one order. Keep any part numbers from your current mounts in the message too. If a size or specification needs confirming, we will check it before asking you to commit.
For help with your own combination, drop us an email or click to open a chat.
Come and work through the fit with us
Garreth would put a showroom visit ahead of choosing by photograph. Cameron would ask you to bring the car details and any measurements you already have. That gives us something useful to work from while you compare how the seats feel.
Arrange a visit to our Nottingham showroom and tell us which Motordrive seats you would like to discuss so we can confirm what is available to try. Call 0115 647 8650 or plan your showroom visit.
Thanks to Motordrive for the photographs from its October dealer pack.
