Beige Cobra Classic CS seats: a closer look in our showroom

This beige pair of Cobra Classic CS seats passed through our showroom for a check before going to a customer in January 2025. They spent some time on the display plinth. The pale trim stood out against the black competition seats around them.

Fluted backrests and cushions, matching piping and separate headrests show how a compact, period-style seat can carry an interior's colour scheme.

The details in the beige trim

The close-up is worth a look before choosing colours. Vertical flutes run down the centre of the backrest, while the matching piping follows the edge of the seat. The headrest covering carries the same colour through the upper part of the interior.

For Garreth, a trim order starts with the whole cabin: carpet, door cards and the colour already on the dashboard. A beige seat can brighten a dark interior, but take a sample or a clear reference for the shade you want. Material and colour need confirming together, since the same shade can look different in vinyl, fabric and leather.

What the Classic CS gives you

The Classic CS is a fixed-back seat with a tubular steel frame and a base-mount fitting arrangement. Cobra's Classic CS specification identifies an adjustable head restraint and side openings for a four-point harness. The visible openings sit alongside the lap area.

The headrest on this beige pair is separate from the backrest and supported on two posts. Cobra's historic-seat brochure gives a nominal Classic CS weight of about 6 kg, with a tolerance of 750 g either way. Allow for trim and configuration when comparing published weights.

The Classic CS is listed for road and track use without FIA homologation, so an event that specifies an FIA seat needs a different model with the required homologation.

Check the seat and mounting height together

Cameron would check the car before settling the order: the space between the transmission tunnel and door, the available base length, and the height of the seat once its frame and runners are underneath it. The headrest also needs room to adjust in the cabin.

The seat is supplied separately from the vehicle fitting kit. Match the base fixing arrangement to the chosen frame, then check the assembled driving position and access to the controls. The broader Classic family includes different profiles, so use the drawing for the exact model you are ordering.

For a separate installation, see our earlier customer car fitted with beige Classic CS seats.

Choosing a finish for a classic interior

Cobra hand trims its seats in the UK. The Classic range includes vinyl, fabric and leather finishes, with Signature options for different colour combinations, piping and stitching. Corduroy, basketweave and tartan finishes are available within the wider historic range; confirm the combination on the model you choose.

Garreth would spend time getting the shade and panel pattern right before adding further trim details. Cameron's priority is the seat shape and the driving position. Both decisions can be settled before the upholstery order is agreed.

For a bespoke order, send the colour reference, covering material, panel treatment and headrest specification together so we can confirm the combination before the seat is made.

Current Classic CS options and further reading

Explore the current Classic CS, Signature, Tartan Edition and Twin Stripe versions, confirming the exact trim and included headrest arrangement when you choose.

For later reading, our Classic tartan range guide looks at the patterns and measurements, while the earlier Signature trim feature gives more colour-combination ideas.

Questions about the Classic CS

Yes. Cobra describes an adjustable head restraint, and the photographed beige pair has separate headrests on metal posts. Confirm the included arrangement for the particular version you order.

Cobra places the openings in the sides beside the lap area and describes a four-point harness facility, with the complete belt and mounting arrangement to be matched to the car.

It uses a base-mount arrangement, with the vehicle frame and any sliding runner selected for the car and the required driving position.

Send a colour reference and your preferred covering, fluting and piping details so we can check the available combination and headrest specification before the order is agreed.

The Classic CS listings are for road and track use without FIA homologation; tell us if your event requires an FIA seat so we can discuss an appropriate model.
