Fiat 124 Spider Seat Fitting and Lowering Guide
Choose the seat position you want in your 124 Spider
If you like the original seat but want to change its position in a modern 124 Spider, the Jass Performance sliding lowering rails are the fitting route we list. If you want to replace the seat with a bucket or recliner, start a complete seat-and-mount enquiry with us. The parts needed for those two jobs differ.
Garreth would first establish whether you want a different cushion and backrest or a different position for the seat you already have. Cameron would record the car’s year, original seat and physical seating side. That keeps the 2666 lowering kit matched to the right job before any other fittings are added.

At a glance
- Vehicle: the modern Fiat 124 Spider introduced in 2016. Give us the exact year, trim and existing seat details.
- Listed lowering kit: Jass Performance 2666, sold as a kit for one seat, with physical left and right options.
- The manufacturer states that fore-and-aft sliding adjustment is retained with its lowering rails.
- Jass describes a standard 48mm rear lowering setting and optional 33mm, 38mm and 43mm settings using the Fine Drop Adjustment Kit.
- An aftermarket bucket, recliner or harness needs its own complete fitting assessment; the original-seat lowering kit does not establish that combination.
Identify the modern roadster and its original seat
Fiat introduced this generation of 124 Spider to the UK in 2016. It is the rear-wheel-drive roadster with a manually operated fabric roof and a 1.4-litre turbocharged engine. The body, seating arrangement and existing modifications should be identified before choosing seat hardware.
Photograph the seat, its rails and the connections beneath it. Include the year and trim, which side you want to work on, and whether the original seat is still present. Cameron would use those details to confirm the exact supplied Jass kit and its current instructions.
Jass names the Fiat 124 Spider alongside the Mazda MX-5 ND for 2666. Keep that specific application with the order. A shared platform is not enough to transfer another ND bracket or a classic Spider fitting kit to this car.
The Jass 2666 original-seat lowering route
The 2666 product replaces the original seat’s lower arrangement with Jass sliding lowering rails. Jass lists the modern Fiat 124 Spider in the application and describes retaining the seat’s fore-and-aft adjustment. Order the appropriate physical side for each seat you plan to lower.
For a right-hand-drive car, the driver sits on the physical right and the passenger on the physical left. The kit is sold per seat, so a two-seat conversion needs two correctly sided kits. Cameron would keep the side selection and the original-seat photographs together on the order.
Jass describes compatibility with OEM and Recaro seats on its product page. Give us the exact seat version so that wording can be checked against your car. It is not evidence that an aftermarket Sportster, Pole Position or another bucket bolts onto 2666.
Garreth would choose this route when retaining the original seat is the aim. Confirm the supplied kit, current installation guide and any adjustment extras before booking the fitting. The replacement-seat options further down the guide are a separate consultation.

Compare the rear lowering settings at one scale
Jass describes the standard rear setting as 48mm. Its optional Fine Drop Adjustment Kit reduces that drop in three 5mm steps, giving rear settings of 33mm, 38mm, 43mm and 48mm. The bars compare those manufacturer figures at the same scale.
The manufacturer’s FAQ describes the front and rear movements separately. It gives approximately 15mm at the front for the rail arrangement, while the rear setting depends on the configuration. Treat these as the maker’s stated settings and check the actual finished position in your car.
Garreth would try the driving posture before choosing the adjustment extras. Include the driver’s usual footwear, pedal reach and view through the windscreen. The setting label alone cannot predict the headroom gained by a particular driver.
The optional kit changes the specified rail arrangement. Follow the current Jass instructions for the selected setting and hardware. Keep unrelated washers, generic runners and seat alterations out of the parts list unless the manufacturer has specified them.
Plan the removal, installation and trial fit
Start with a record of the original seat and rail assembly before anything is removed. Match the car, physical side and existing equipment to the supplied Jass instructions. The maker says that installation guides and video support are included with the kit.
Have the fitter identify the parts retained from the original arrangement and the parts replaced by 2666. The supplied manual determines the mounting sequence, fasteners and selected adjustment setting. Keep the original belt fittings and seat equipment in that assessment.
Cameron would check the release handle, travel and locking action after assembly. Move the seat through the range the driver needs and repeat the check at the chosen driving position. The retained sliding function is part of the Jass route, so a separate universal runner should not be added by default.
With the driver seated, check wheel and pedal reach, the view through the windscreen, buckle access and clearance beside the door and tunnel. Operate the fabric roof and check the position with it closed. Garreth would also try normal entry and exit before settling on the configuration.
Try the bucket shape before specifying a replacement-seat build
The Sparco Sprint, Sprint Sky and larger Sprint L give different sizes and finishes to discuss for an aftermarket-seat build. Garreth would try the standard shape first, then compare the larger version if the cushion and shoulders need more room. That is a seat-sizing exercise before a complete 124 Spider fitting recommendation.
Sparco’s cited catalogue gives the illustrated Sprint and Sprint Sky families 345mm x 271mm lower fixings and 290mm lateral fixing spacing. The exact supplied version and its instructions decide which mounting arrangement is used. Those dimensions describe the seat connection, not the Fiat floor or its available cabin width.
Cameron would need the selected shell, matching supports where required, vehicle connection and any runner checked together. The verified 2666 route above retains an original seat. Send us the exact bucket model and car details so a replacement assembly can be assessed separately.

Compare the R100 and R333 reclining shapes
The R100 fabric and vinyl choices offer two surfaces on a reclining-seat family, while the R333 has a different cushion and bolster shape. Try the support and backrest movement you want before choosing the trim. Garreth would include the ease of getting over the side bolster in that comparison.
Sparco’s catalogue gives the R100 family and R333 345mm x 271mm lower fixings. A complete vehicle assembly still needs checking for the exact seat, its controls and the space for the backrest. A common fixing pattern does not establish that these seats connect to the original-seat Jass rails.
Cameron would compare the whole replacement arrangement with the car’s door, tunnel, rear trim and roof movement. Include the runner, supports and cushion in the trial. Ask for that specific parts list before ordering a recliner for your Spider.

Choose the belt arrangement with the seat and its use
For an original-seat lowering enquiry, include the original belt fittings and buckle access in the fitting assessment. A harness is a separate decision for the intended seat and vehicle setup. The four-point examples and six-point competition option shown here have different strap and attachment arrangements.
Cameron would check the belt maker’s routing instructions, the seat’s belt openings and the actual attachment points. The lowering rails do not establish those points or a complete harness installation. For a track build, send us the seat, belt reference and existing rear-cabin arrangement together.
Garreth would settle the seating position before choosing a belt from its colour or finish. Include the access you need to the buckle and adjustments when seated. The illustrative hero car shows the modified-car setting, without demonstrating a supplied seat, rail or harness combination.

Common questions
It covers the modern roadster introduced in 2016, using the Jass 2666 application that names the Fiat 124 Spider. Give us the exact year, trim and original seat details. A classic Spider or a different seat installation needs its own fitting check.
Jass describes a kit per seat with physical left and right options. Choose each required side for the car’s driving position. To lower both seats, specify two correctly sided kits.
The manufacturer states that fore-and-aft sliding is retained. Confirm the actual kit and instructions, then check the release, travel and locking action after fitting. An extra universal runner is not part of that default lowering plan.
Jass describes the rear lowering setting as 48mm, with optional 33mm, 38mm and 43mm settings using its Fine Drop Adjustment Kit. Its FAQ describes the front movement separately. Trial the finished driving position instead of treating 48mm as a uniform vertical movement of the whole seat.
The verified route here concerns original-seat lowering. Jass’s OEM and Recaro wording does not identify every aftermarket model. Send us the exact seat and car details so the full replacement-seat assembly can be checked separately.
You can discuss a recliner as a separate seat-and-mount enquiry. Check its outside dimensions, backrest controls and movement with the car’s interior and roof. The 2666 original-seat rail listing does not establish that replacement combination.
A seat’s bolt centres describe one connection in the assembly. Its outside width, backrest shape and all lower fittings also affect the position. Trial the complete seat with the driver and check the door, tunnel, roof and controls.
Include the original belt fittings in the lowering assessment. A harness needs a separately checked seat, routing and attachment arrangement for its intended use. The rail kit alone does not establish that installation.
Garreth’s top tip
Garreth would keep the original seat if its cushion and backrest already suit the driver and position is the issue. Try the available Jass adjustment settings with the driver’s normal footwear and the roof closed. If support or seat shape is the reason for the change, start a complete replacement-seat enquiry instead.
Cameron’s fitting view
Cameron would record the physical side, original seat and 2666 kit reference before choosing the adjustment extras. He would use the current supplied instructions to identify every retained and replacement connection. Finish with the driver seated and repeat the movement, locking and clearance checks.
