Start at the car floor and work upwards. The vehicle frame, runners, side mounts and seat each have a different job. A part can match one interface and still be wrong for the next, which is why Garreth and Cameron ask for every part number before saying yes.
OMP has a broad choice of runner, side-mount and conversion hardware, which gives options but also creates more combinations to check. Check the exact listing for what is included, confirm whether the seat is base or side mounted, and count the parts per seating position. Do not order from a brand-wide bolt-pattern table.
Bolt width does not confirm front-to-rear spacing, thread, runner travel, handle clearance, seat height, belt-buckle position or structural suitability. We have removed the old blanket pattern table because it turned one measurement into a fitting promise.
Build the full fitting stack
Write down the owner and part number of each layer.
Vehicle floor and original fixings
Confirm the exact model, year, body style and seating side. Look for captive nuts, original cross-members and anything shared with the belt buckle.
Vehicle-specific frame
This bridges the original floor points to the aftermarket system. It may be a complete frame or a set of adaptor brackets, so the product photograph alone is not enough.
Runners, if used
A runner set gives one seat fore-and-aft adjustment. Check the kit contents, hole centres, locking action and handle clearance.
Side mounts, if required
A side-mounted shell needs a left and right bracket around that one seat. Confirm the permitted supports and their adjustment range.
The exact seat
Finish with the manufacturer drawing, mounting type, thread and dimensions for the actual model and version.
Some kits combine two layers or reuse an original runner. That is fine where the instructions say so. The point is to identify every interface, not to force every car into the same diagram.
Base mounted or side mounted?
Look at the seat instructions and shell, not the upholstery name.

Some seats offer both routes, but that does not make every combination interchangeable. Use the route permitted for the event and the vehicle frame. A conversion bracket adds another interface and needs the same checks as everything else.
What is specific to OMP
A wide hardware range is useful only when every layer is identified.
01Several support heights
Low, high and multi-hole side mounts change more than appearance. Check eyeline, helmet room, recline and permitted attachment points.
02Conversion hardware
A base-to-side conversion adds an interface. Confirm it is permitted for the seat, vehicle use and event before ordering.
03Cross-brand claims
Even where a runner listing names other brands, match the exact mounting dimensions and hardware. It does not approve the complete vehicle installation.
The old guide called OMP the least restrictive brand and treated a conversion bracket as a general rescue part. We do not use either as a buying rule. A conversion changes the mounting stack and can affect height, approval and load paths, so the exact bracket instructions and event rules come first.
Count everything by seating position
Most incomplete orders are one frame or one pair of side mounts short.

Driver and passenger frames can be handed, and the options on one product page can lead to different parts. Add each side deliberately. Do not assume quantity two of a driver-side selection turns one of them into the passenger part.
A product described as a pair of side mounts normally contains the two brackets needed around one seat. Two side-mounted seats therefore need two pairs unless a complete two-seat kit explicitly says otherwise.
Check the restraint system and the road car
Seat fitment is not isolated from the belts, airbags or driving controls.

Stop rather than improvise
- Holes do not align
- Frame rocks on the floor
- Runner will not lock on both rails
- Buckle sits behind a high bolster
- Wiring would be cut or bypassed
- Seat or shell touches hard structure
The DVSA MOT manual checks the security of the driver’s seat, required belt mountings, buckle operation, pretensioners and the SRS warning. Passing an MOT does not approve an improvised competition installation, but these checks cannot be left until test day.

Common OMP bracket questions
Will a OMP frame fit a seat from another brand?▾
Do not assume it will. A vehicle frame is designed around a particular range, mounting route and position. Give us the frame part number and the exact seat. If the listing or manufacturer does not approve the combination, matching-looking holes are not enough.
Do I need runners?▾
Only if you want or need fore-and-aft adjustment and the chosen frame and seat accept them. Some vehicle kits include runners, some reuse part of the original assembly and some need a separate runner set. Read the exact kit contents.
How many parts do I need for two seats?▾
Normally two vehicle frames, two runner sets if sliders are being used, and two pairs of side mounts if both seats are side mounted. A pair of side mounts usually supports one seat, one bracket on each side.
Can I drill the frame or elongate a hole?▾
Stop and check first. Do not treat drilling, slotting or bending safety hardware as a normal fitting step. Ask the manufacturer or have the complete installation assessed by a competent vehicle fabricator.
How do I measure a bolt pattern?▾
Measure centre to centre between the relevant threaded holes, then check front-to-rear spacing and thread size as well as width. Measure the actual seat or use its current drawing; do not rely on a brand-wide number from an old guide.
Can I keep the factory seat-belt buckle?▾
Often it needs a model-specific bracket or approved mounting point. Check buckle height, belt path, pretensioner wiring, occupancy sensors and the SRS warning before the original seat comes out.
Are side mounts FIA approved?▾
Approval depends on the exact seat, support and regulations. Newer and advanced FIA seat standards can specify the supports homologated with the seat. Read the technical-list entry and the seat instructions.
What should I send for a compatibility check?▾
Send the car make, model, year and seating side, plus links or part numbers for the seat, vehicle frame, runner and side mounts. Add photographs if any original part is being reused.
