They share the same head-restraint idea, but they do not fit the driver or car in the same way. The standard Circuit is the compact route; the Circuit II gives broader drivers more room.
In store, the difference appears first around the hips and shoulders. A driver held neatly by the Circuit can move too much in the Circuit II. A broader driver who is pinched by the Circuit may sit naturally in the larger shell.
Trouser size does not show hip shape, thigh size, torso length or where your shoulders meet the shell. Seat dimensions are a useful filter, not a substitute for sitting in it.
Look at shoulder position before deciding
Sit fully back with the clothing and racewear you use. Your shoulders should meet the supports rather than sit below them, and your hips should be held without painful pressure. Check that you can tighten every belt while seated.
Garreth normally has customers try the two seats without telling them which one is meant to be the larger model. The correct shell is usually obvious once both have been tested.
The larger shell needs more space outside too
Measure the door, centre tunnel, cage, shoulder-wing area and side-mount position. The Circuit is often easier in a tight cockpit. The Circuit II can solve driver room while creating a clash at the door bar or B-pillar.
Check the installed angle and steering-wheel position, not just whether the loose seat drops through the door.

Confirm the exact model, FIA label, validity, side mounts and lower belt openings on the physical seat. Product specifications can change, so use Sparco’s current documents and the rules for the event.
Choose compact support or useful extra room
Pick the Circuit when it supports the driver correctly and the car is tight. Pick the Circuit II when the driver needs the added hip and shoulder room and the shell clears the complete cockpit. Do not size up simply because the name sounds more advanced.

Is the larger Circuit II automatically more comfortable?▾
No. Extra room helps only when the driver needs it. Too much space reduces lateral support and can put the shoulders below or inside the wrong part of the shell.
Can I rely on the published dimensions?▾
Use them to rule out obvious problems, then measure the actual cockpit and sit in the seat. Padding and body shape change how the internal space feels.
Will the same side mounts fit both seats?▾
Check the current seat drawing, mounting pattern, approved supports and vehicle kit. Similar-looking shells do not guarantee an identical installation.
Should I buy the seat before planning the harness?▾
No. Seat openings, driver position, belt route, anchorages and any FHR use need planning together.
