A Sparco direct fit sub-frame for the Renault Clio 197. Part number 00499103-197.

The 197 is a car that gets tracked, and a seat is usually the first thing that goes in when it does. A direct fit frame is what makes that a bolt in job. It uses the floor mounting points Renault already provided and gives the new seat a flat 345mm by 271mm base to sit on, so there is no drilling and no fabricating.

Fitment

Base mount seats on that 345mm by 271mm pattern, which takes in Sparco, OMP and Corbeau base mount seats. Some older text on this range said same brand only, which was never true of this spacing. The compatible seats list on this page is correct.

If you are fitting a side mount FIA bucket, you also need side mounts or adaption bars. The shell does not go onto the frame directly.

Ordering

One frame fits one seat, and the frames are handed. Pick RHD driver or RHD passenger at the top of the page, and order twice if you want both sides done.

Add the seat model to the comments at checkout. Frames in this range are either full replacement frames or adaption bars fitted to the existing runners, decided by the car rather than by you, and the photograph is illustrative. We check the pairing before dispatch, and if you are going down the harness route as well, tell us and we will look at the anchor points at the same time.

What will be in the box? There are several types of seat frames which may be supplied depending on the vehicle and application. You may receive 1 of the following 4 types. If you are using them with a certain seat, please contact us in advance for professional advice.

Additional seat belt brackets: Each seat frame can be used for a variety of applications including road car reclining seats throuh to Motorsport FIA seats. Seat belt brackets are not required in a range of application so manufacturers generally do not supply them with their frame kits. If you require seat belt brackets please contact us in advance

Bolt point tolerances:

Please note that OMP, Sparco and various other brands have a +/- 10mm tolerance on the bolt point locations on each of their sub-frames. This means that when installing the equipment into your vehicle, you may find that one or more of the bolt points may need extending for a perfect fit.

This is normal and, when installed by a skilled professional, it may only add five minutes to the total installation time. A prime example is the OMP Renault Clio MK3 frames and the BMW E46 frames as two bolt points need extending by 5mm in 75% of installations.

Drilling of frames and equipment may be required to complete your installation.

Matching seats and frames:

There are over half a dozen different bolt patterns in the industry for base mounted seats. There are over 30 different bolt patterns for side mounted seats. Aftermarket frames from different brands will have different bolt location points.

Seats and frames are not a direct fit between brands. Seat frames are also not suitabled for OEM seats (Fitted into a vehicle from the factory) Please ensure to contact us for professional advice before purchasing your seat frames. We will be able to provide you a recommendation as to which seat frame is right for which seat.

Will I fit in this seat?

What do I need to fit it to my car?
The car-specific frame for your vehicle, plus a sliding runner if you want fore-and-aft adjustment. Our guide on base mount versus side mount walks through the whole stack, and tell us your car and we will quote the full kit.

How do I know it will feel right, not just fit on paper?
Makers publish widths and weights, never feel, and two seats with identical numbers can feel nothing alike. We keep the ranges on display in the showroom, you are welcome to come and sit in them, and our head support measurements guide shows the kind of real-world data we collect.

Sparco stock arrives weekly

Sparco produce in batches and we receive Sparco products on a weekly basis, so the popular seats, harnesses and accessories are usually available for quick dispatch.

Less common models and colours are ordered in for you and take longer.

Tell us when you order and we will confirm the lead time up front rather than after the event. If it is on the shelf we will say so, and if it is coming in on the next delivery we will tell you when that is.
