The 172 and the 182 take different frames
The number is the power figure, and the 182 is the later car with the revised engine. They are close enough that people order the wrong frame, so check what your car actually is before you buy.
The HC779 stem also covers the Clio Mk1 and Mk2, each with its own suffix. Send us the registration if you want it confirmed.
Why the 172 in particular
This is the car that gave the hot Clio its reputation, and a lot of them are now on their second or third life as track cars. That matters for the seat decision: an original 172 seat is twenty years old, and the foam and the bolster have usually given up.
So here you are replacing something worn out rather than something merely unsuitable, and the improvement is correspondingly larger.
What the frame gives you
Two bolt patterns from the multi-hole clusters at each corner: 345mm by 271mm for Sparco, OMP and Corbeau base mount seats, and 405mm by 290mm for Recaro. A Sparco frame gives you only the first.

Steel, base mount, on the floor mounting points already in the car, so nothing is drilled. Sold singly and handed, so order twice for a pair.

Do I keep fore-and-aft adjustment?

Base mount or side mount, and does it matter?
