The standard width Corbeau Revolution System 1 in Tartan Edition trim, at 920. FIA 8855-1999 fibreglass, fixed back, head support, wool tartan and velour.

920 here, 960 in XL

Forty pounds between the two, so choose on width rather than budget. The XL is cut for larger hips and ribs. If the standard shell fits, use it, because a bucket works by holding you still.

Where it sits against the Revenge

The Revenge System 1 Tartan is 875 and this Revolution is 920. Both are FIA shells with head support in the same wool tartan. The 45 between them buys a different shell shape, not a better seat, and which suits you depends entirely on your build.

The tartans

Eight to choose from: Blair Ancient, Boyd Modern, Earl of St Andrews, MacFarlane Clan Ancient, MacKenzie Dress Modern, MacMillan Old Modern, Stewart Dress Modern and Weir Ancient. Each seat is trimmed to order in that cloth, so tell us the design when you buy.

Mounting and approval

System 1 is the fibreglass shell. This seat is base mount rather than side mount. FIA 8855-1999, with the seat’s own label carrying its validity rather than any general rule.

Will I fit in this seat?
The maker sizes this seat for drivers with a 32in to 36in waist. Those are the paper numbers; how a seat actually feels to sit in is a different question, and our showroom team sit in these seats every day, so call us and we will give you the honest answer.

FIA bucket seats are built to order, typically 3 to 7 days from the day you order. Kevlar and carbon shells take longer, so ask us if you are working to a date.

Reclining sport seats are also made to order in your chosen trim, and run to a similar timescale.
