Our Updated Range Of Luke And Corbeau Harness Belts

Harness news, October 2024

We have finished updating our whole range of Luke and Corbeau harness belts. Every listing has been rewritten, with new photos and the latest details on approval, strap width, buckle type and fitting.

The two names belong together. Luke make their harnesses in Sussex, and Corbeau's Ultima Pro harnesses are the FIA approved end of the same family. Between them they cover everything from a two point lap belt to a six point FIA harness.

  • Every Luke and Corbeau harness listing has been updated with new photos and details
  • The range runs from 2 point lap belts to 6 point harnesses
  • Luke GHR and Professional harnesses are Road and Track approved
  • Corbeau Ultima Pro 6 point harnesses are approved to FIA 8853-2016
  • Professional harnesses come in 50mm or 75mm straps and ten colours

What we have updated

The update covers every Luke and Corbeau harness we list. Each one now has a fuller description of what the belt is for, and the specification is laid out the same way on every listing: number of points, approval, strap width, buckle type, installation, colours and whether it works with a HANS device.

The new photos show the belts close up, including the stitching, webbing and buckles, so you can see what you are buying. We have also made the differences between similar harnesses clearer, which is where most questions come from.

Luke GHR and Professional harnesses

The Luke General Harness Range, or GHR, is the entry point, with 2, 3 and 4 point belts for road and track use. The GHR 4 Point Sport-Lite Saloon is a lighter version of the four point, set up for a saloon car. The GHR belts are not HANS compatible.

The Professional range steps up to a choice of 50mm or 75mm straps and ten colours, from 2 point to 6 point. The Pro-Lite versions add a quick release rotary buckle and clip-in fitting, which is handy if you are in and out of the car between sessions. A six point harness adds a twin sub strap between the legs, which does a better job of stopping you sliding under the lap belt than a single crotch strap. All of these are Road and Track approved, not FIA homologated.

Corbeau Ultima Pro for FIA events

If your championship asks for an FIA harness, the Corbeau Ultima Pro is the one to look at. It is a six point harness approved to FIA 8853-2016 and made for use with a HANS device. There are versions with different buckle styles, and the F2026 has a flat buckle for cockpits where depth is tight or the buckle might foul the steering wheel.

FIA harness approval runs to an expiry date, and it is printed on the label on each strap. Scrutineers check that date, so check it covers the whole of your season before you buy. Garreth’s advice is to read your championship’s regulations first, as some also specify the buckle type.

Picking the right belt

Start with how the car is used. For track days and club events where FIA approval is not needed, a Luke Professional or Pro-Lite gives you the strap width and colour choice. For competition that needs FIA approval, go to the Ultima Pro. For a classic or a kit car, there are two and three point Luke belts, and Caterham and Westfield specific four point belts.

The seat and mounting points matter as much as the harness. Check that your seat has the right slots for the number of points, and that the shoulder straps can be mounted at the right height behind you, usually to a harness bar. The full range is on our Luke harnesses page.

The Luke GHR and Professional harnesses are Road and Track approved. For FIA events, the Corbeau Ultima Pro is approved to FIA 8853-2016.

The Pro-Lite adds a quick release rotary buckle and clip-in fitting to the Professional harness.

No. The GHR range is listed as not HANS compatible. The Corbeau Ultima Pro is made for HANS use.

The Luke Professional harnesses come in 50mm or 75mm straps.
