The Sabelt SFI 5 Point Harness, part number 556S622SU2S, carries SFI 16.1 approval. This is the American SFI standard used in NHRA, NASCAR and some domestic drag racing series. It is not FIA approved. If your competition series runs under FIA regulations, this harness does not satisfy those requirements; it is for use in series that specifically accept or require SFI 16.1 certification.

Five-point layout with 3-inch shoulder and lap webbing. Latch-release buckle. Wrap-around installation. HANS friendly. Available in black, blue and red.

Wrap-around installation threads the shoulder straps around a bar or harness mount in the car rather than clipping or bolting to dedicated points. This is common in drag racing cars where the cage and harness bar arrangement suits wrap-around mounting.

A 5-point harness adds a single anti-submarine strap running between the legs compared to a standard 4-point. This reduces forward sliding under a heavy braking load. The FIA 6-point standard requires two sub straps; the 5-point uses one. SFI 16.1 specifies the construction and performance requirements for this layout in American series.

At £185 this is comparable in price to the Steel series FIA competition harnesses but carries a different approval standard. If you are unsure which standard your series uses, contact your organising club or check the technical regulations directly before ordering.

How long does an FIA harness last?

Does it work with a HANS device?
No. Only 6-point FIA harnesses work with a HANS device: not 4-point belts and not road harnesses. If you run or plan a HANS, look at the 6-point FIA belts in the range.

What does it mount to?
A harness needs proper anchor points: a harness bar, cage, or the car’s designed mounting points, plus a seat with the right slots. Tell us the car and seat and we will confirm the mounting plan before you order.
