The Kirkey 71 Series is the road race containment seat in the range: a 20 degree aluminium shell with containment sides, head surround and a structure that accepts a six-point harness. The containment sides provide lateral support in the direction a road race car loads hardest: the side forces through high-speed corners, not the straight-line deceleration that dominates a drag or sprint build.
Width options are 15, 16 and 17 inches. An additional cover is available, or the seat can be ordered bare. Part number is 71-Series. The listing is for the seat only; mounting brackets are not included.
The six-point harness compatibility is a practical point: on a road race car where the driver uses a crotch strap to prevent submarining, the 71 Series accommodates the harness geometry without modification. The equivalent in the Kirkey standard bucket range is the 56LW or 58LW Series, which both accept six-point but without the containment head surround.
For the adjustable-angle alternative without containment, the 65 Series (part 65-Series) suits road race builds where the class permits a simpler bucket. For the Spec Miata class specifically, the 81 Series is built to that series’ requirements and sizing. For wider containment seats suited to oval track classes, the 80 Series and 86 Series cover street stock and modified applications.
