Values have changed what this job is
E30s were the cheap old BMW for two decades and they are not any more. An M3 is in another bracket entirely, a 325i Sport now attracts real money, and buyers look closely at what has been changed.
The frame bolts to the factory mounting points so nothing is cut. If the car has Recaro sports seats, they are worth money on their own, so store them and their fixings somewhere dry rather than letting them go with the car.
The floor check is not optional on an E30
These rust, and the areas that go include the floors, the jacking points and the seams round the seat mounting. Get the carpet up and look properly. If it is soft, get the metal sorted first, because a subframe can only feed seat load into sound structure.
What else you need
Side mounts and the seat. Seat choice stays open. The 345mm by 271mm spacing covers Sparco, OMP and Corbeau base mount seats, and the frame also carries the 405mm by 290mm Recaro pattern, which a Sparco frame does not. Cobra use 291mm by 330mm and need multi hole side mounts.

Which seats does it take?
It takes seats drilled 345mm x 271mm (the Sparco and OMP seat pattern) and 405mm x 290mm (the Recaro seat pattern). If your seat is not listed, tell us what you run and we will confirm the fit.
Do I keep fore-and-aft adjustment?
Only with a sliding runner between the frame and the seat, which is a separate part on OMP frames. If more than one person drives the car, budget for the runner. Our guide to sliding runners explains the options and widths.
Base mount or side mount, and does it matter?
