This Recaro sub-frame (part number 687519-1989) fits the Volkswagen Fox. The Fox was a budget small car sold in Europe from 2005, using an older Polo platform rather than the contemporary Golf V architecture. It is a basic vehicle by design, which makes it an unusual home for a Recaro installation, but the Fox’s low purchase price and modest kerb weight made it a reasonably popular base for entry-level club motorsport and autocross use where cheap and simple is an asset.

The sub-frame bolts to the Fox’s OEM floor mounts without modification to the car. Fore-aft runners are included for seat adjustment. Fits Recaro base-mountable bucket seats and reclining sport seats. Not for side-mounted competition shells without adaption hardware. Given the Fox’s market position as a budget vehicle, the sub-frame installation cost should be weighed against the seat and bracket stack before committing. What will be in the box? There are several types of seat frames which may be supplied depending on the vehicle and application. You may receive 1 of the following 4 types. If you are using them with a certain seat, please contact us in advance for professional advice.

Additional seat belt brackets: Each seat frame can be used for a variety of applications including road car reclining seats throuh to Motorsport FIA seats. Seat belt brackets are not required in a range of application so manufacturers generally do not supply them with their frame kits. If you require seat belt brackets please contact us in advance

Which seats does it take?
Check the bolt pattern in the specification against your seat. The Compatible seats tab above lists what bolts straight on. If your seat is not listed, tell us what you run and we will confirm the fit.

Do I keep fore-and-aft adjustment?
Only with a sliding runner between the frame and the seat, which is a separate part on Recaro frames. If more than one person drives the car, budget for the runner. Our guide to sliding runners explains the options and widths.

Recaro seats are produced in batches for the UK market

We receive Recaro deliveries regularly and hold good stock of the popular models, so many go out quickly.

Demand for the bucket seats is worldwide and production runs to Recaro’s own schedule, so the less common models and trims can take considerably longer. Ask us and we will tell you where a specific seat stands.

Before you order

If you need a seat for a date, ring us first. We would rather give you an honest lead time up front than have you waiting on a seat that is between production runs.
