This is the Recaro direct-fit sub-frame (part number 86.26.16-997) for the Porsche 911 997 series, covering the water-cooled 911 built from 2004 to 2012. The sub-frame bolts directly to the 997’s factory floor mounting points using the OEM hole pattern. No drilling, no fabrication, and no modification to the car’s floor structure.
The 997 is a car where seat position matters more than in most. Headroom is tight in standard trim, and the relationship between the seat height and the seatbelt anchor point is specific enough that a poorly positioned aftermarket seat will put the belt across the wrong part of the driver’s body. The Recaro sub-frame is engineered to replicate the correct seat height and angle for the 997 platform, which keeps the shoulder belt geometry correct and avoids conflict with the 997’s side airbag trigger sensors.
The sub-frame includes fore-aft sliding runners, so the Recaro seat retains longitudinal adjustment. It fits base-mountable Recaro bucket seats and reclining sport seats. It will not work with side-mounted Recaro competition shells unless adaption bars are added separately.
