The Kadett D (1979-1984) was Opel’s first front-wheel drive hatchback, replacing the rear-driven Kadett C and setting the template for everything that followed in the Opel small-car range. It came in three and five-door form with engines from the 1.0N through to the 1.8 GTE, and the GTE and GS variants drew motorsport attention in period, appearing regularly in European saloon car racing. Today the Kadett D is a fixture in historic circuit events across the continent, and its straightforward steel floor gives fabricators a clean base to work from.
The Corbeau sub-frame for the Kadett D uses the car’s original floor fixings as its anchor points. In most applications no drilling is needed; the frame bolts directly to the existing holes, though Corbeau build in ±10mm bolt tolerances and minor filing is occasionally necessary. The kit works with base-mounted bucket seats and reclining sport seats only. Side-mounted FIA race seats are not compatible with this system.
