Stern Performance rear seat delete kits for the Mini Cooper are now in our range. We have them for three generations: the R50 and R53, the R56 Cooper S and JCW, and the F56 Cooper S and JCW.
The kit replaces the small rear bench with a strut bar and a webbing net, and a carpet cut for each generation covers the floor behind the front seats. The carpet, net and strut bar are also sold on their own.

What the kit is
The rear seats in a Mini see little use in a car that goes on track, and taking them out saves weight. A rear seat delete makes the space they leave look finished. Stern’s kit, often called a clubsport kit, puts an aluminium strut bar across the car at the height of the old seat back, with a net of seat belt style webbing hanging beneath it to close off the boot from the cabin.
Stern describe the kit as plug and play. The brackets use existing mounting points, such as the seat holder, the rear seat belt mounting or the side panel, and the net usually hooks onto the car’s own eyelets or Isofix points.
This R56 shows the kit fitted, with a red and black bar and a black net in front of a pair of bucket seats. With the carpet in, the whole rear of the car becomes one flat, trimmed load area.
The bar is powder-coated aluminium in your choice of colour, or full carbon as an option. The net came in black, blue or red webbing, with other colours on request.
The Mini generations we cover
Each generation of Mini has a different rear floor and different mounting points, so Stern make a separate kit and carpet for each: the first BMW Mini, R50 and R53; the R56 Cooper S and John Cooper Works; and the F56 Cooper S and John Cooper Works.
When you order, tell us the generation and the model, or send the registration, and we will confirm the right parts before Stern make them. It avoids the most common mistake, which is a carpet cut for the wrong car.
The carpet, and who makes it
The carpet has a velour surface, synthetic leather edging and decorative stitching, black as standard or a contrast colour on request. It is cut around anything that stands up from the floor, and the structured rubber underside keeps it in place and cuts some of the road noise.
Stern Performance was founded in Kaltenkirchen, Germany, in 2017 and make every part by hand there. If you are adding bucket seats and harnesses at the same time, note that the strut bar carries the net and is not sold as a harness mounting point. No. Each generation has its own kit and carpet, so tell us which one you have.

It is not sold as a harness mounting point, so harnesses need their own proper anchorage.
