Stern Performance rear seat delete kits for Mercedes have arrived in our range. We have them for two generations of the AMG A-Class hot hatch: the A45 AMG W176, and the newer A35 and A45 AMG W177.
The kit replaces the rear bench with a strut bar and a webbing net, and a carpet made for each car covers the floor behind the front seats. The carpet, net and strut bar are also sold separately.

What is on this page
What the kit is
A rear seat delete takes out the rear bench and tidies up the space it leaves, so the car looks finished and not stripped out. Stern’s version, often called a clubsport kit, uses an aluminium strut bar across the car at the height of the old seat back, and a net of seat belt style webbing hanging beneath it to close off the boot from the cabin.
Stern describe the kit as plug and play. The brackets use existing mounting points, which vary by model: the seat holder, the rear seat belt mounting or the side panel. The net usually hooks onto the car’s own eyelets or Isofix points.
The two photos show how much the look can change. The car above has a silver bar with a black net; this one runs a black bar with red webbing, which picks up the red details on an AMG.
The bar is powder-coated aluminium in a choice of colours, with a full carbon bar as an option. The net came in black, blue or red, with other colours on request.
W176 or W177: check your car
The W176 A45 AMG and the later W177 A35 and A45 AMG are different cars underneath, so Stern make a separate kit and carpet for each. The carpet is the part where this matters most, because it is cut around whatever stands up from the floor, such as the seat holders.
When you order, tell us the model, the year and whether it is a W176 or W177, and we will confirm the right parts before Stern make them. If you are not sure which generation you have, send us the registration and we will check.
The carpet, and who makes it
Stern’s carpet has a velour surface, synthetic leather edging and decorative stitching, black as standard or a contrast colour on request. The structured rubber underside grips the floor so it stays in place, and helps with road noise.
Stern Performance was founded in Kaltenkirchen, Germany, in 2017, and everything is handmade there. Each part is sold separately as well as in the kit, so you can add the carpet later or replace a single part.
One thing to plan for if you add bucket seats and harnesses: the strut bar carries the net and is not sold as a harness mounting point. Our guide to fitting a motorsport harness covers proper anchorage, and Garreth can talk you through the options.

Is the W176 kit the same as the W177 kit?
No. Stern make a separate kit and carpet for each generation, so tell us which one you have.
What is in the kit?

Can a harness be mounted to the strut bar?
It is not sold as a harness mounting point, so harnesses need their own proper anchorage.
