Cobra Imola Technology Bucket Seats In-Store

Bucket seats, April 2020

We have just taken delivery of a set of Cobra Imola Technology bucket seats, trimmed in black with Outlast fabric. They are Cobra's Technology version of the Imola, and they look and feel quite different from the standard seat.

Cobra Technology is a combination of three things: a composite shell with a visible carbon finish, Confor energy absorbing foam, and Outlast temperature regulating fabric. Here is what each part does, and which Cobra seats it is offered on.

  • Seat: Cobra Imola in Technology specification
  • Composite shell with a visible carbon fibre finish
  • Padded with Confor energy absorbing foam
  • Trimmed with Outlast temperature regulating fabric
  • Technology is also offered on other Cobra shells, including the Suzuka and Evolution

What Cobra Technology is

Cobra developed its Technology seats by taking the best parts of its motorsport seating and putting them into one package. The shell is composite with a visible carbon fibre finish on the back, which you can see clearly on the seat turned around on our display.

Inside, the padding is Confor foam, an energy absorbing foam that softens under sustained pressure and body warmth and moulds itself to the driver. Cobra use it in a dual density, three layer build, so the seat stays supportive while shaping itself to you over time.

The third part is the fabric. Outlast is a temperature regulating material built around phase change technology with its roots in work done for NASA. Tiny capsules in the fabric absorb heat when you are warm and release it as you cool down, which helps keep a driver more comfortable over a long, hot stint.

The seats also carry HANS friendly tags, so they are designed to work with a head and neck restraint.

Available across the Cobra range

Technology is not limited to the Imola. Cobra can build the specification into several of its FIA shells, including the Suzuka and the Evolution, and the Sebring has also been offered this way. So if another Cobra shape suits you better, we can have that seat produced with Outlast fabric and Cobra Technology.

If you are choosing between the two most popular shapes, our comparison of the Cobra Imola and Suzuka goes through the differences.

Getting the right seat

We keep Cobra's range on display in the showroom so drivers can sit in the shells and find the one that suits their body shape. As soon as the showroom is open to visitors again, contact us and we will book you a fitting.

Garreth's advice until then is to send us your height, weight and waist size along with the car and what you use it for. That is enough for us to narrow the choice down to one or two shells.
