Sparco uses QRT across compact, standard, XL and head-restraint shells. The letters do not tell you which model fits the driver or car.
Start with the job: open or head-restraint shell, driver size, cockpit room and event approval. Then compare individual models. Do not buy the lightest-looking or cheapest QRT seat before checking the installed system.
Trouser size does not show hip shape, thigh size, torso length or where your shoulders meet the shell. Seat dimensions are a useful filter, not a substitute for sitting in it.
Sort the range by body shape first
Use internal dimensions to make a shortlist, then sit in the candidates. Check hip pressure, thigh support, shoulder position and belt slots. For head-restraint models, add helmet and FHR clearance. QRT construction does not make every shell feel alike.
Group seats by the space the car can give you
Compact shells help small cabins, while XL and head-wing models need more room at the door, tunnel, cage and roof. Mock up side mounts and runners at the intended height. Keep the driver aligned with the wheel and pedals.
Check the individual label, not the range name
Read the current product drawing and physical FIA label for the exact QRT model. Confirm approved mounts where required, harness openings, validity and the event rules. QRT itself is not an approval standard.
Choose the shell first and QRT construction second
Once two models fit the driver and car, compare weight, trim, ventilation, price and availability. Those are useful tie-breakers. They should not overturn a clear difference in support or cockpit clearance.

Is the larger QRT model automatically more comfortable?▾
No. Extra room helps only when the driver needs it. Too much space reduces lateral support and can put the shoulders below or inside the wrong part of the shell.
Can I rely on the published dimensions?▾
Use them to rule out obvious problems, then measure the actual cockpit and sit in the seat. Padding and body shape change how the internal space feels.
Will the same side mounts fit both seats?▾
Check the current seat drawing, mounting pattern, approved supports and vehicle kit. Similar-looking shells do not guarantee an identical installation.
Should I buy the seat before planning the harness?▾
No. Seat openings, driver position, belt route, anchorages and any FHR use need planning together.
