Recaro Classic LX And LS Sport Seats Are Coming In 2020

Recaro has reissued two of its seats from 1984, the Classic LX and the Classic LS. Both combine the classic look of the originals with the comfort and ergonomics of a seat made today, and we are now taking pre-orders.
They are reclining sport seats, not buckets, and they are made for the cars that wore Recaros the first time round. Here is what the two seats are, how they differ, and when they are due.

Two seats from 1984, made again
The Classic LX and Classic LS are new editions of two Recaro seats from 1984, and they made their debut at the Retro Classics show in Stuttgart. They are built to the look of the originals, but with the comfort and ergonomics of a modern seat.
Recaro lists individual seat depth adjustment, pronounced side bolsters and lumbar support among the features, and both seats are made in Kirchheim/Teck in Germany. They also carry an “Approved by Walter Röhrl” label, from the rally champion.
LX or LS
The LX was originally designed for comfort. It is the lower, flatter of the two, which suits a car with less headroom or a driver who wants the period look without big bolsters.
The LS was designed for sporty driving. It has the taller shell and more bolster, so it holds you more firmly through corners.
Both recline and both have a headrest. The difference is the shape, which is why Garreth's advice is to sit in both before you choose if you can.
Trims and timing
Both seats come in the same four trims: Pepita cloth with leather, classic corduroy with leather, classic checked cloth with leather, and full leather. The Pepita is the black and white houndstooth many people will remember from fast cars of the Eighties.
Recaro plans to release the seats between July and October 2020, and we are taking pre-orders now. Both seats base mount, so each one also needs a frame for your car. Tell us the car when you order and we will match it. If you prefer a fixed bucket with the same cloths, the Recaro Classic Pole Position has also just arrived.
