The TRS Helmet Hammock Mesh Centre (part number 23C500) clips to the roll cage and holds two crash helmets between stages or in the paddock. At £33 it addresses a specific problem: helmets left on the floor of a rally car collect water, grit and heat, and take up leg space that the co-driver needs between stages.
The mesh centre is what distinguishes this version from a solid-fabric hammock. With Peltor helmet intercoms or any system that runs cables across the top of the helmet, a solid hammock can catch the cables and pull them loose when the helmet is lifted out. The mesh centre keeps the helmets slightly separated and lets cables hang freely. For rally crews running intercom systems, this is the version to buy.
Mounting is to any roll cage bar with enough clearance to sit two helmets side by side. The hammock adjusts to suit different bar spacings and folds flat when not in use. The mounting webbing is adjustable in length.
Check the headroom in your car before ordering. Some cage configurations, particularly those with a very low rear hoop, leave less clearance than the hammock needs with both helmets in it. The hammock position is fixed to wherever the cage bar sits, so it cannot be repositioned after fitting.
Three colour options: black, blue and red. Made in England.
