The TRS Carbon Roof Vent (part number 24P0040) is a UK-made roof cutout vent for rally and circuit cars that need cabin ventilation without opening a window on stage or in the pitlane. External dimensions are 37cm x 29cm. It fits into a hole cut in the roof skin and is bonded in place.
Inside the moulding are two independently adjustable air vents that can be angled forward to draw hot air out of the cabin by the airflow over the roof, or pointed to admit cooler air. A water drain channel is integrated into the moulding to handle rain without it running straight into the car, which is what makes this practical in wet stage conditions rather than just in dry circuit use.
The shell is the current generation of carbon weave rather than the older plain-weave carbon used in earlier TRS accessories. The finish is high quality from the mould and can be clear-coated, painted over to match the car’s livery, or left in natural carbon. It can be cut in the field to suit slightly smaller openings if needed.
At £305 this is one of the more expensive single items in the TRS range, and it requires a permanent modification to the roof. The position of the vent relative to the cage bars needs to be confirmed before marking the cut, because the bonded moulding cannot be repositioned once the adhesive has cured and the opening has been made.
TRS supplies the moulding. Cutting, bonding and sealing are the installer’s work. If you have not done this before, take the car to a bodyshop that has.
