Foam pads that slide onto 2 inch (50mm) harness webbing to cushion the strap against the shoulder and upper chest. Sold as two pairs, covering both shoulder straps on one harness with a spare set included. Part number 23E500-X2-Black.
These are for 2 inch webbing: the Clubman range throughout, the 2 inch lap and sub straps of the Pro range, the 2 inch International range, and the 50mm variants of the Nascar range. The 3 inch version (23E5130-X2) is listed separately for harnesses with 3 inch shoulder straps, including the Magnum range, the Pro range shoulders, and the 75mm Nascar range.
Under hard braking, shoulder straps load against the upper body. On a 2 inch strap, that force concentrates on a relatively narrow band of the shoulder. Over a full track day or a long race, the repeated loading on the same contact point becomes noticeable, and by the end of the day a driver’s shoulder is often sore even if the harness is correctly fitted and tensioned. The foam pad distributes that contact over a wider foam surface, changing it from an edge force to a surface pressure. On club racing cars with 2 inch Clubman harnesses, where the harness is fitted correctly but the strap is the standard 2 inch width, pads are the straightforward improvement before upgrading to a wider strap.
The pads slide onto the webbing and are held in position by the adjuster. No tools or modifications to the harness. At £38 for two pairs, the set covers both shoulders for the season with a spare pair in reserve. Black only on this listing.
