The larger the cockpit volume and the more of it that needs filling, the more material the insert kit needs. GT cars, large sports prototypes, and touring cars with relatively open interiors all fall into territory where a mid-range kit runs short, leaving areas around the hips or lower back unsupported and the insert unable to reproduce a consistent seating position from session to session.
The 90-litre Real Race kit, part REARE-RDK-08-901, is the largest in the range. It provides enough volume to build a complete insert for the most demanding cockpit applications, including situations where the interior is wide, the sides of the cockpit do not enclose the driver tightly, or multiple support areas all need filling at the same time. At this size the process allows for a full lining of the cockpit pan, sides, and back without conserving material in any area.
The approach is the same as for the rest of the range. The liner is placed in the cockpit and the driver settles into it before any resin is introduced. Poly-beads and slow-cure resin are mixed with the included black pigment for visibility, then added to the liner. The driver holds the correct seating position while a vacuum pump draws through the attached valve to lock the liner to that profile during curing. The slow cure rate gives time to confirm the position before the resin is committed, which matters most in a large cockpit where there is more room for the insert to come out with unsupported areas if the position is wrong. The vacuum pump and hose are not included and are sold separately. The kit includes fire-retardant anti-bacterial brushed nylon fabric and adhesive for covering the finished insert; the Real Race spacer fabric covering is a breathable alternative for cockpits that run warm.
