The Planted Reinforcement Plate. Part number PRP.
A steel plate that goes under the floor, behind the bracket, to spread seat load over a wider area of metal. It is the least exciting thing on this page and it is often the most important.
Why you might need one
A seat bracket bolts through the floor. In an accident the load at those bolts is considerable, and on thin, aged or repaired floors a bolt and a washer can pull through. A reinforcement plate puts a larger footprint on the underside so the load is carried by more metal than the bolt head alone.
When to fit one
Older cars, cars with any history of floor repair, anything running a harness, and anything going on a circuit. If you have lifted the carpet and were not entirely happy with what you saw, that is your answer. If the floor is genuinely corroded, a plate is not a repair and you should get the metal sorted first.
