Why an Impreza gets seated before anything else
On loose surfaces the car moves under you constantly and the standard seat lets you move with it. You end up steadying yourself with the wheel, which is precisely what you should not be doing on a stage, and it is tiring within an hour.
Once a harness goes in it gets worse rather than better, because the harness is holding you to a seat that is itself shifting.

Some STIs came with well bolstered factory seats and they are worth keeping. Tell us what yours has before you spend.
What else you need
Side mounts and the seat. The plates carry multi-hole clusters at each corner, which gives two bolt patterns. Sparco, OMP and Corbeau base mount seats all bolt to the 345mm by 271mm spacing, and Recaro to the wider 405mm by 290mm, so factory Recaros can be reused. Cobra are the exception at 291mm by 330mm and need multi hole side mounts.

Which seats does it take?
It takes seats drilled 345mm x 271mm (the Sparco and OMP seat pattern) and 405mm x 290mm (the Recaro seat pattern). If your seat is not listed, tell us what you run and we will confirm the fit.
Do I keep fore-and-aft adjustment?
Only with a sliding runner between the frame and the seat, which is a separate part on OMP frames. If more than one person drives the car, budget for the runner. Our guide to sliding runners explains the options and widths.
Base mount or side mount, and does it matter?
This is a base-mount frame: the seat bolts down through its base, the simpler stack that suits seats with a flat bottom and keeps the install low-fuss. Our guide on base mount versus side mount explains the whole fitting stack.
