The RS7 is the most heavily bolstered seat in the Mirco FIA range. At 11kg it is nearly a third heavier than the GT at 8.2kg, and that weight comes from more material in the shell and the SpaceTech foam lining that fills the deep kidney, thigh and side support areas. Part code Mirco-RS7-Vinyl. FIA homologation code is CS.406.18 under the 8855-1999 standard.
Driver limits match the RS2 at 95kg and 190cm, but the RS7 holds a driver more firmly than the RS2 does. It was designed for drivers who want maximum lateral support under hard cornering or in events with sustained g-loading, where the standard bolstering of the RS2 is not quite enough. The extreme side supports and deep thigh bolsters are what set it apart in the range.
This listing is the vinyl trim version, black shell as standard. Shell options run to blue, grey, orange, red, white and yellow. The custom trim palette covers 250 combinations including velour, 3D mesh and jacquard if vinyl is not what you want. Diamond-stitch pillow and personal name embroidery are available as optional extras.
The RS7 costs more than the RS2 and is heavier. For a track-day car or competition vehicle where support is the priority and weight is not a primary concern, it is the right end of the Mirco range. If the weight matters and FIA approval is the main requirement, the RS2 or RTX-7 give you that at less mass. Price is for a single seat.
Have you written anything about this exact product?
Yes, we have covered this exact product: Customers Stunning Mirco RS7 Bucket Seat. That is first-hand coverage from our own builds and showroom, not brochure copy.
Why does the RS7 feel tighter than its width suggests?
Because it sits you deepest of the Mirco shells, which is exactly why it supports best. On paper it measures the same width as the RS2; in the car they feel nothing alike. If you are between the two, that is the trade: the RS7 for hold, the RS2 for easy living.
Will I fit in this seat?
The maker sizes this seat for drivers with a 32in to 36in waist. Those are the paper numbers; how a seat actually feels to sit in and climb out of is a different question, and our showroom team sit in these seats every day, so call us with your height and waist and we will give you the honest answer.
Is it FIA approved, and for how long?
Yes, it carries FIA 8855-1999 homologation. Every FIA seat has a not-valid-after year printed on its homologation label, and that label date is what a scrutineer checks, so look at the label on the seat you receive and check it against your championship regulations. Buying new means you get the freshest label the maker currently produces.
Does it work with harnesses and a HANS device?
The shell takes 4 point compatible and 6 point compatible. If you are planning the full seat, harness, and HANS setup, tell us the car and we will spec it end to end.
How do I know it will feel right, not just fit on paper?
Fair question, because makers publish widths and weights, never feel, and two seats with identical numbers can feel nothing alike in the car. We keep the ranges on display in the Nottingham showroom, you are welcome to come and sit in them, and if you cannot get to us, call and describe your build, as the team sit in these seats every day. Our head support measurements guide shows the kind of real-world data we collect.
