The Volkswagen Passat built prior to 1988 covers the B1 and B2 generations, running from 1973 to 1988. These are based on the EA827 platform, sharing floorpan architecture with the Golf Mk1 and Mk2 and the Audi 80 of the same period. The B1 Passat in particular is a light car and has found some use in historic rally events and club sprints, though the B2 GLi and GT are more commonly seen at the track. The pre-1988 floor fixing layout is distinct from the later B5 and B6 cars, which is why separate sub-frames exist for the different generations.
This Corbeau sub-frame is designed around the pre-1988 Passat floor fixing positions. Working from the original bolt points avoids any drilling into floor structure that on a car of this age may already have seen some corrosion repair. The kit may be a complete replacement frame or an adaptation bracket set, depending on the specific configuration developed for this generation’s floor.
