The Vauxhall Astra Mk2, built on the GM T-body platform from 1984 to 1991, covers the GTE 16V and the 2.0i Sport alongside the standard range. The GTE runs the C20NE or C20XE engine in tuned form in sprint and hillclimb events, and was a BTCC class competitor in period. The T-body platform is lighter than the F-series that replaced it, and the Mk2 remains popular among drivers who want less weight to work with. The Mk2 GTE in 2.0-litre 16-valve form weighed just over 1,000 kilograms from the factory, giving a power-to-weight ratio that still feels quick with modern safety equipment fitted. The T-body floor fixing geometry is specific to the Mk2 generation and differs from both the Mk1 Kadett D architecture and the Mk3 F-series.
This Corbeau sub-frame uses the Astra Mk2’s original floor bolt positions. The kit places the Corbeau seat at the correct height without drilling into the T-body floor structure. The specific configuration, replacement frame or adaptation brackets, depends on what Corbeau have developed for this floor.
