The Renault Clio Mk1 ran from 1990 to 1998 and produced two variants with motorsport credentials: the 1.8-litre 16V and the Williams, which used the same engine in a wider, lower body with stiffer suspension. The Williams was built to homologate the Clio for Group A rally competition, and Renault produced exactly 3,800 for the UK market across three phases. The 16V and Williams competed in club events well into the 2000s. The Williams has retained value as both a competition car and a collector’s piece, and examples in usable condition still compete at the national club level. The Mk1 Clio floor is on the Renault Super 5 B platform and shares nothing dimensionally with the Mk2 Clio that replaced it in 1998.
This Corbeau sub-frame is matched to the Clio Mk1 floor fixing positions. Working from the original floor bolt points keeps the mounting within the car’s designed structure and positions the Corbeau seat at the correct height for this floor. The configuration depends on what Corbeau have developed for the Clio Mk1: it may be a complete replacement frame with sliding runner or adaptation brackets off the existing mounts.
