The Cobra Misano Anniversary for the Land Rover Defender, a reclining sport seat. Part number COBMIS-ANN-DEF.
A Defender is driven a long way, slowly
That is the case for a recliner rather than a bucket here. A fixed back shell holds you brilliantly for twenty minutes and becomes an argument on a four hour drive to a site or a show, and a Defender is a vehicle people spend hours in rather than laps.
What the Misano adds over the standard seat is real lateral support and a properly shaped back, without giving up the adjustment that makes the vehicle usable.
On rough ground
Support matters more off road than most people expect. Being thrown around a flat seat is tiring within an hour, and bracing against the wheel to stay put is how you end up steering with your shoulders.
High density foam rather than soft padding, so the support holds rather than compressing under you.
The seat
885mm tall, 590mm wide, 620mm deep on a 520mm base, at 11.5kg. Base mount at the standard Cobra 291mm x 330mm pattern, 4 point harness compatible. Road and Track approved rather than FIA homologated.
Anniversary trim: any one or two colour leather with matching or contrasting stitching, diamond quilted cross stitching to the centre panels, carbon backrest. Hand trimmed in the UK, and we confirm the specification with you before the seat is built.
Fibreglass back, steel base
The Misano is a hybrid rather than one material throughout, and that is deliberate. A reclining mechanism needs a rigid, accurately made metal base to work properly and keep working; a backrest wants to be light and stiff, which is what fibreglass is for.
Most reclining seats are steel all the way up and heavier for it. Combining the two is harder to engineer and it is the reason this seat sits where it does in the range.
Seat only. Tell us the year and we will match a frame.
