Two Auto Style Type Classic Vinyl with Headrest seats (SS52L-X2), £390 the pair. The Classic Vinyl (SS52L) is a fixed-back base-mount seat in vinyl with an integrated headrest. Buying the pair confirms both seats share the same production batch and finish. Check the individual listing for the specific colour included in this pair; the Classic Vinyl is available in black and beige.

Fixed-back seats give a stiffer shell than recliners at the same price, which provides slightly better lateral hold in corners without the reclining mechanism. The integrated headrest is part of the shell rather than an add-on. Vinyl cleans easily and does not hold heat as noticeably as fabric in a cold car in winter, though it warms up more in summer.

Steel frame, 345mm x 280mm bolt pattern, all heights and sizes, sliders for both in the box. Fitting frames purchased additionally, one per seat. 4-point harness compatible. The fabric version of the Classic with Headrest is the SS52Z if you would prefer fabric over vinyl. At £200 each the pair cost matches two singles. No FIA competition approval.

Auto Style seat size guide

Auto Style make one size of every seat. The buckets suit a 32 to 36 inch waist, the two small ones go down to 28, and the recliners take most drivers.

How Auto Style size their seats

There are no Standard and XL versions. Each bucket is one shell and our product data bands it: nearly all of them at 32 to 36 inch, with the Type K5 and the Type K12 Small at 28 to 32 for slimmer and younger drivers. The Type BS7 is the tall bucket for drivers over 6 ft; the BS6, BS8, K5, K12 and Zandvoort suit drivers under 6 ft.

The reclining range is all one size and suits all heights. Three of them have published dimensions: the Eco Lux is 510 mm across the base, 540 mm across the shoulders, 550 mm deep and 910 mm tall; the RS6-II is 530 mm across the base and 560 mm across the shoulders; the Pro Luxury is 470 mm across the base and 600 mm across the shoulders.

Price pointAuto Style seats are the entry to the range and the bolsters are softer than a Cobra or Corbeau at the same waist. If you are at the top of a band and want to be held, look at the BS7 or step up a brand.

Measure yourself first

Four numbers decide whether a seat fits. Take them in the clothes you drive in, and write them down before you compare models.

AWaistAround your natural waist, not your trouser size. Trouser sizes usually run an inch or two under the real figure, and the waist bands on our product pages use the real one.
BSeated hip widthSit on a hard chair with your feet flat and measure straight across the widest point of your hips with a rule or a straight edge, not a tape that follows the curve. This is the number that decides whether a fixed shell is tight.
CShouldersStraight across the back at the widest point. Fixed back seats hold you here, so a shell that is narrow at the shoulders is uncomfortable long before it is unsafe.
DHeight and torsoYour height, and if you are over 6 ft whether that is mostly leg or mostly body. A long body needs a taller shell with the head support set higher.

Before you order

  • Check the car, not only the driver. Transmission tunnels, door cards and B pillars are what stop a wide shell going in. Our seat mounting and fixing points guide covers what to measure.
  • Side mount and base mount shells are not interchangeable. Which one you need depends on the car and the subframe, so pick the brackets at the same time as the seat.
  • If you run a HANS or plan to, filter on HANS friendly. The shoulder openings are cut to clear the collar.
  • FIA seats carry an expiry date on the homologation label. Check what your championship accepts and how long the seat has left, particularly on discounted older stock.
Send us your measurementsWaist, seated hip width, height and the car. We have fitted a lot of Auto Style seats and will tell you honestly if the one you have picked is going to be tight. Call 0115 989 3488 or email Sales@GSMPerformance.co.uk.

Waist bands and heights are our product data, checked 6 September 2026. The Eco Lux, RS6-II and Pro Luxury dimensions are Auto Style’s own listings.

Have you written anything about this exact product?
Yes, we have covered this exact product: Discover the Auto Style Type AK Reclining Sports Seat, and Auto Style Type Classic Bucket Seats Now Available to View In-Store. That is first-hand coverage from our own builds and showroom, not brochure copy.

Will I fit in this seat?
The maker lists no driver size restriction on this seat, so it suits the full range of heights and waists. Those are the paper numbers; how a seat actually feels to sit in and climb out of is a different question, and our showroom team sit in these seats every day, so call us with your height and waist and we will give you the honest answer.

What kind of car suits this seat?
Classic and retro vehicles, which is exactly what this shell is designed around. The low-back retro style belongs in a period build, not a modern car, however tempting the weight figure looks. If you are kitting out a modern road or track car, we will point you at the right modern shell instead.

Is this seat FIA approved?
No, this is a road and track day seat rather than a homologated competition seat. For events that require an FIA seat, look at the FIA-approved shells in the range, and ask us if you are unsure what your series needs.

What do I need to fit it to my car?
This is a base-mount seat: it bolts down through its base, the simpler stack for road cars. You will need the car-specific frame, and a sliding runner if you want fore-and-aft adjustment. Our guide on base mount versus side mount walks through the whole stack, and tell us your car and we will quote the full kit.

Does it work with harnesses and a HANS device?
The shell takes 4 point compatible. If you are planning the full seat, harness, and HANS setup, tell us the car and we will spec it end to end.

How do I know it will feel right, not just fit on paper?
Fair question, because makers publish widths and weights, never feel, and two seats with identical numbers can feel nothing alike in the car. We keep the ranges on display in the Nottingham showroom, you are welcome to come and sit in them, and if you cannot get to us, call and describe your build, as the team sit in these seats every day. Our head support measurements guide shows the kind of real-world data we collect.

Availability

Two stock positions, and they are very different

Auto Style seats are produced in batches and imported into the UK and Europe every 12 weeks. What that means for your order depends on where the seat is.

Showroom stock is roughly 4 days. Distribution stock is roughly 3 to 4 weeks.

Stock rotates constantly

These sell quickly once a batch lands, so a model that was on the shelf last week may be on the next container. Contact us for the precise position before you order and we will tell you which of the two you are in.
