Planted Technology Volkswagen Sub-Frames Updated For The 2025 Season
Seat frame news, October 2024
With the 2025 season coming, we have been through our Planted Technology Volkswagen range. The listings have been brought up to date, and two new frames have joined it: one for the Passat on the B8 chassis and one for the Volkswagen CC.
If you are fitting aftermarket seats to a VW, whether that is a track day Golf, a rally car or a road car that needs better support, the frame under the seat matters as much as the seat. Here is what the Planted frames are, which Volkswagens they cover and what is new.
- Our Planted Technology Volkswagen listings are updated for 2025
- New this month: frames for the Passat B8 (2015 on) and the VW CC (2008 to 2017)
- The range covers the Golf from the Mk1 onwards, plus the Jetta, Scirocco, Beetle, Corrado and Bora
- Each bracket is made for one car and bolts to the factory seat mounting points
- Made in the USA from 3/16 inch steel with a black powder coat
- Brackets are handed, so order one for each side

What a Planted frame does
A Planted Technology bracket sits between the car’s floor and an aftermarket seat. Each one is made for a specific car, so it lines up with the factory seat mounting points and bolts straight in. Nothing needs to be drilled or cut in the floor, which means the original seats can go back in later. On an early Golf or Scirocco, where originality has real value, that is worth a lot.
Planted are a family owned US company, and their brackets are made in the USA. They are laser cut from 3/16 inch steel, welded, and finished in a black powder coat to resist corrosion. The top of each bracket is drilled with a range of slots and holes, which is how one bracket can take seats and sliding runners from several different makers.
The Volkswagens we cover
The range starts where Volkswagen’s water cooled cars start. There is a bracket for the Golf, Jetta and Rabbit on the Mk1 chassis up to 1984, which also covers the Scirocco of 1974 to 1980, and a separate one for the second generation Scirocco. From there the Golf is covered generation by generation: the Mk2 of 1985 to 1992, the Mk3 of 1993 to 1998, the Mk4 chassis shared with the Beetle and Bora, and one bracket for the Mk5, Mk6 and Mk7 chassis from 2006.
The Jetta has its own listings for each generation, and the Corrado of 1988 to 1995 is covered too. Each listing names the chassis and the years, and that is what to order on, as the chassis is what decides the floor mounting points.
New for 2025: the Passat B8 and the CC
The two new frames are for bigger Volkswagens. The Passat B8 bracket, part SB330, covers the Passat from 2015 on. The B8 moved onto a different platform from the B7 before it, so the chassis code is what to order on; a part for the earlier car will not do.
The VW CC bracket, part SB296, covers the CC from 2008 to 2017. The CC shares its underpinnings with the Passat of the time but takes its own bracket. It also has a lower roof than the saloon, so a tall driver gains real head room from a lower seat position.

Neither car is a typical track build, and that is worth thinking about before choosing a seat. Most of these cars cover long distances, so a padded or reclining seat is usually a better match than a fixed racing shell. Both have side airbags, and many have seat sensors or powered adjustment, so tell us the car’s specification before the factory seats come out.

Which seats fit a Planted bracket
Planted design their brackets to take the sliders from the main seat makers, including Recaro, Sparco, OMP, Cobra, Bride and Momo. A base mounted seat bolts to the bracket, with sliding runners between the two if you want to move the seat. A side mounted bucket seat needs a pair of side mounts as well, which fit to the bracket in the same way.
For Recaro seats, a Planted bracket is the route we use: Recaro seats go on Planted brackets and not on other makers’ frames. Garreth’s advice for any setup is to tell us the exact seat before you order, so we can check the bracket, runners and any side mounts all work together.
Ordering
Planted brackets are handed, so the driver and passenger sides are separate parts: order one for each seat. You can see every VW frame on our Volkswagen Planted Technology page, and the full Planted range covers many other makes.
If you are not sure which chassis your car is, send us the registration and we will check it for you.
