Our OMP Silverstone Classic Bucket Seat
Classic seats, June 2021
The Silverstone is one of the most popular seats in OMP's classic range. It has the look of a sixties or seventies bucket seat, with deep sides and horizontal ribbing, but it is built to be used, so it suits a classic cockpit without feeling like a museum piece.
It is also a small seat, which makes it a good match for compact cars. Here is what it is like, who it suits and the cars it goes into.
- OMP's classic style bucket seat
- Steel frame, around 7kg
- Synthetic leather all over, ribbed centre panels
- Best for a 32 to 36 inch waist
- 13 inches between the hips, 23 inch high back
- Needs a width of 550mm or more

A period look with proper support
The Silverstone keeps the shape of an older bucket seat: a high back that runs to a clean top edge with no headrest, deep sides, and a trim of synthetic leather all over. The centre of the base and backrest has a ribbed, pleated design that gives a second texture and a proper retro feel.
The look does not come at the cost of support. Deep bolsters around the outer thighs stop the lower body sliding sideways, and the bucketed sides run up the back to hold the upper body too. For a classic that gets driven with some enthusiasm, that support makes a real difference.
Size and who it suits
This is a seat for smaller drivers. We recommend it for a waist of 32 to 36 inches. The internal width at the hips is 13 inches, and the back is 23 inches high, which is short, so taller drivers should try one first.
The steel frame gives the seat strength and keeps it rigid, and it still comes in at around 7kg. Garreth’s advice for any classic seat is to sit in it before you buy if you can, because the fit matters more than the trim.

Cars it suits
Because the shell is compact, the Silverstone goes into cars with small cockpits, such as the Mazda MX-5 and the Honda S2000. It needs a width of 550mm or more where it will sit.
Like most classic seats it is base mounted, so it needs a frame to suit the car. Tell us the car you are fitting it to and we will check the frame. If you are working with a narrow cockpit, our guide to narrow racing seats is worth a read.

The Silverstone is one of several seats in OMP’s classic range, each with its own take on a period design, so if the shape is not quite right there is usually another that is. We have them in the showroom to compare side by side.
