Gravity Car Show 2023
Show report, August 2023
Last weekend we headed to the Birmingham NEC for the Gravity car show, one of the biggest car shows of the UK year. Gravity bills itself as Europe's premier automotive event, and this year it brought together over 500 selected show cars and bikes, along with supercars, rare hypercars, live action displays and stands covering everything from wrapping to detailing.
It was a big turnout and a great atmosphere, with everyone there for the same reason. Here are the parts of the weekend that stood out for us.
- Gravity 2023 took place at the NEC, Birmingham, on 26 and 27 August
- Over 500 selected show cars and bikes on display
- Liberty Walk brought a stand of widebody builds
- Crewsade ran live drift demonstrations through the weekend
- A Max Power era reunion filled part of the outside area
- Best in Show went to a heavily modified classic Mini

Low cars and the Liberty Walk stand
As you would expect from a show called Gravity, the stance scene dominated the halls. Car after car sat right down on the floor, which fits the theme of the show: fighting against gravity.
The Liberty Walk stand was one of the highlights. It was packed with slammed cars wearing their wild widebody kits, some of their newest projects were on display, and there was merchandise on sale for fans of the brand.
Live drifting from Crewsade
Crewsade kept the crowds entertained all weekend with their live drift demonstrations: stunts, burnouts and big tandem drifts. The regular crew was joined by a few well known names, including Luke Woodham in his Baja style trophy truck.
A Max Power reunion
Outside, the show took a turn away from the modern modified scene with a reunion of cars from the Max Power era of the 1990s and early 2000s. These were the builds that filled magazine racks across the UK for years, and it was good to see them out together again.
The music was on, people were playing games on consoles built into their cars, and the atmosphere out there was one of the best parts of the weekend.
The Gravity 2023 awards
Towards the end of the show, the judges handed out 20 awards across different categories, announced and celebrated on the main stage. There were awards for the best wheels, interiors, wraps and paint.
The main prize, Best in Show, went to a heavily modified classic Mini.

For us, the interiors are always worth a closer look at a show like this. Garreth’s view is that shows are one of the best places to see how a seat looks in a finished car before you choose your own.
