Our customer recently fitted a pair of Recaro Sportster CS reclining sports seats into their Porsche Boxster, creating a clean, premium interior that perfectly suits the character of the car. Recaro Sportster CS Dimensions and Vehicle Fitment
One of the biggest surprises from this installation was just how well the Sportster CS fitted inside the Porsche Boxster.
At first glance, the seat appears much larger than many other reclining sports seats. The lower section of the seat is particularly wide, which often raises concerns about clearance around the door cards and centre tunnel in smaller sports cars.
Despite this, our customer successfully installed the seats without requiring any interior modifications. The seats fit comfortably within the cockpit while still retaining adjustment through the genuine Recaro sliding runners.
Because of this successful installation, we now use the Porsche Boxster as one of our benchmark vehicles when discussing Sportster CS fitment with customers.
The Sportster CS is widest at the base, measuring 539 mm, while the shoulder width is a more compact 517 mm. The overall seat height of 918 mm also allows it to fit comfortably into the Boxster without causing roof clearance issues in a standard road setup.
Like most reclining sports seats, the lower cushion has a more open design around the hips compared to a fixed back bucket seat. This allows it to comfortably accommodate a much wider range of drivers.
We generally recommend the Sportster CS for drivers with a 32 to 40 inch waist.

Installing the Recaro Sportster CS in the Porsche Boxster
Our customer’s installation uses a straightforward combination of high-quality components that have been designed to work together.
The factory Porsche seat, frame, and original runner assembly are removed completely, exposing the original mounting points in the floor of the car.
From there, the installation begins with the Planted Technology Porsche Boxster seat bracket. This vehicle-specific subframe bolts directly to the original factory mounting points, creating a solid base for the rest of the installation while maintaining the correct seating position.
A genuine pair of Recaro double-locking sliding runners is then fitted on top of the Planted bracket, providing smooth forward and backward adjustment for everyday driving.
Finally, the Recaro Sportster CS bolts directly to the runners using Recaro’s standard 405 mm bolt pattern. Because the seat, runners, and Planted Technology bracket all share the same mounting pattern, everything lines up perfectly without the need for fabrication or modification.
This makes it one of the cleanest aftermarket seat installations available for the Porsche Boxster.
A Modern Upgrade That Still Suits the Boxster
