Corbeau bucket seat brackets, what fits what

Subframes and runners

Corbeau are the interesting one on brackets, because their runner is the closest thing to a universal part that anybody makes. It comes in four handle widths on a single listing, 291mm, 345mm, 370mm and 405mm, and between them those cover every base mount pattern in the market including Cobra at one end and Recaro at the other.

The old version of this page said Corbeau were a 345mm brand. That is one of the four widths, not the answer. Which one you need is set by the seat range, and the listing spells it out, so this is a question you can settle in a minute rather than guess at.

  • 152 Corbeau frames live, covering car and seating side
  • Four runner handle widths: 291mm, 345mm, 370mm and 405mm
  • Frames run £180 to £289.50, with most at a flat £245
  • Base mounted seats only, there is no Corbeau side mount route
  • Frames are priced for one seat, so a pair is two of them
Corbeau universal seat frames
Corbeau frames. The brand runs the widest set of runner handle widths of anyone we stock, four on a single product, which is what makes their runner the one that fits almost anything.

The two parts you need

Corbeau is simpler than the other three brands on this site, because Corbeau frames are for base mounted seats and there is no Corbeau side mount. That leaves two parts rather than three.

The runner

Base mounted seats onlyCorbeau subframes take base mounted bucket seats and reclining sport seats. They are not for side mounted shells, and unlike Cobra there is no Corbeau side mount to get round it. If your seat is side mounted, you want a set of universal side mounts and a frame that suits them.

Four handle widths, and which seats take each

This is the part the old page had wrong and it is the most useful thing here. Corbeau publish four handle widths on one runner product and map each to a named seat range. Straight off the listing:

Handle widthCorbeau rangeWhat else it suits
291mmSportline and Classic seatsCorbeau and Cobra base mounted seats on a 291mm pattern
345mmStandard width Motorsport seatsA range of base mounted seats including Corbeau, Sparco and OMP
370mmL width Motorsport seatsSide mounted Motorsport seats, depending on shell width
405mmXL width Motorsport seatsRecaro seats and wide tracked Motorsport seats on side mounts

From the Corbeau Seat Sliding Runners listing, product 15739. You pick the handle on the drop-down when you order. This is the only runner on the site that carries all four, which is why it turns up in builds that have nothing to do with Corbeau seats.

Seat brandBase mount bolt patternThe part that proves it
Sparco345mmSparco Seat Sliding Runner Kit, 14036
OMP345mmOMP Seat Slider And Runner Kit, 15620
Sabelt345mmSabelt Seat Sliding Runner Kit, 123871
Corbeau291mm, 345mm, 370mm or 405mmCorbeau Seat Sliding Runners, 15739
Cobra291mm, or 405mm on the motorsport shellsCobra Premium Sliding Runners, 120664
Recaro405mmRecaro Double Locking Sliding Runners, 14037

Read this as the width across the two rails, measured between the bolt centres. Sparco, OMP and Sabelt all sit on 345mm, which is why one runner kit carries all three. Corbeau publish four handle widths on a single product and Cobra publish two, so those are the two to check rather than assume. Corbeau are the row that overlaps every other row, which is the whole point of the four handle options.

Side mount fixings sit at roughly 290mm front to rear. Base mount patterns are measured across the car. Corbeau frames are for the base mount side of this drawing.

The frame is Corbeau only. The runner is not.

Our listing on 166 of the 171 Corbeau frames says they fit seats of the same brand and that fitment is not guaranteed with anything else. That is Corbeau’s position on the frames and we will not argue with it on a page people order from.

The runner listing is the opposite, and it is unusually open about it. It says the runners suit all seats in the Corbeau range, then adds in brackets that other seats will fit and to contact us for advice. None of the other three brands invite that. Combined with the four handle widths, it is why the Corbeau runner ends up under seats from half a dozen other makers.

Worth knowing if you have a Cobra seatThe 291mm Corbeau handle is listed as suitable for Corbeau and Cobra base mounted seats on a 291mm pattern. So a Corbeau runner is a legitimate answer for a Cobra bucket or recliner, and at £49 it undercuts the £70 Cobra Premium runner. Ring us before you commit, because the Cobra part is the one Cobra specify.

What a pair of seats actually costs

Corbeau frames are priced for one frame, which fits one seat. So is the runner. Corbeau are the most expensive of the four brands here by a distance, with a median frame price of £245 against £72.50 for Sparco, so the count matters more than it does elsewhere.

A worked example on the Golf Mk7, two base mounted Corbeau seats:

PartQuantityPrice eachLine total
Golf Mk7 direct fit subframe, 192152, one per side£245.00£490.00
Corbeau sliding runner, 157392, if not already in the kit£49.00£98.00
or the 345mm pair kit instead, 1846901 kit covering 2 seats£98.00£98.00

Check the frame options before adding runners, because some Corbeau kits already include them and the listing says so. The pair kits come in all three of the common widths, 291mm as 214839, 345mm as 184690 and 405mm as 214840, all at £98.

Check the options before you add a runner

Corbeau frames vary. Some are a complete replacement frame, some are runners and brackets, and some are adaption bars that bolt to what is already in the car. The listing notes which in the options and the price. Read that before you add a separate runner, or you will end up with a spare set.

If you are buying a frame without a seat, put the seat model in the comments box at checkout so we can check the pair before it ships.

Runners

The single runner is where the four handle widths live. Pick the width on the drop-down, and if you are not certain which range your seat belongs to, ring us rather than guess.

Each one fits a single seat. If you are doing both sides, the pair kits work out at the same money as two singles and save you a line on the order.

Check your frame first. Some Corbeau kits already include the runners.

If your car is not on the list

Corbeau cover the mainstream European cars and a decent spread of classics, the Beetle among them. When there is no Corbeau frame, universal adaption bars are the usual answer and the Endurance bars carry 291mm, 345mm and 405mm on one part, so they line up with three of the four Corbeau handle widths.

Planted are the other route and cover a lot of Japanese and American cars that the European catalogues skip.

Before you order

  • Is your seat base mounted? Corbeau frames will not take a side mounted shell.
  • Which handle width? 291mm for Sportline and Classic, 345mm for standard Motorsport, 370mm for L width, 405mm for XL.
  • Does the frame already include runners? The options and price say so. Check before adding them.
  • How many frames? They are priced per seat, so a pair of seats is two frames.
  • Doing both sides? The pair runner kits save a line and cost the same.
  • Buying the frame without the seat? Put the seat model in the checkout comments.

Common questions

There are four, and that is the useful bit. 291mm on the Sportline and Classic seats, 345mm on the standard width Motorsport seats, 370mm on the L width and 405mm on the XL width. You pick the matching handle when you order the runner.

Sometimes. Some kits are a complete replacement frame, some are runners and brackets, and some are adaption bars. The options and the price on each listing tell you which. Read that before you add a separate runner.

Corbeau say no on the frames, and our listing repeats it on 166 of the 171. The runner is a different matter and the 345mm handle is listed as suitable for Corbeau, Sparco and OMP base mounted seats. Ring us with the seat and the car if you want it checked.

The 291mm handle is listed as suitable for Corbeau and Cobra base mounted seats on a 291mm pattern, so yes on the face of it, and it is cheaper than the Cobra part. Give us a ring before you order, because Cobra specify their own runner for their subframe applications.

No. Corbeau frames are for base mounted bucket seats and reclining sport seats. There is no Corbeau side mount either, so a side mounted shell needs a universal set of side mounts and a frame to suit.

They are the dearest of the four brands here, mostly a flat £245 against a £72.50 median on Sparco and £102.92 on OMP. That is what Corbeau charge for them. If budget is the driver and your car is covered by more than one brand, the Sparco or OMP frame will do the same job for less, provided you are running their seat.

One, and it fits one seat. If you want both sides, add it twice and pick a different seating position each time.

Universal adaption bars are the usual answer and the Endurance bars carry 291mm, 345mm and 405mm on one part. Planted are the other option and cover a lot of Japanese and American cars. Ring us with the car and we will tell you which is sensible.
