The Cobra Clubman is back in stock, and we have a pair on display in the showroom in black 3D spacer fabric, ready to try and to dispatch or collect.
The original Clubman was one of the most popular competition style seats of its day. It is a steel framed, fixed back bucket built for support and style, and it works just as well for everyday driving as for track days. Like every Cobra, it is hand trimmed in the UK, so there is a wide choice of trims.

The Cobra Clubman
The Clubman is the least expensive seat Cobra make, and it is still a properly made seat: steel frame, fixed back and well bolstered. It is 850mm tall and 515mm wide on a 500mm base, and at about 9.2kg it is light for a steel seat, lighter than the Monaco at 11.4kg.
It is base mounted, and Cobra list it for drivers under 6ft with a 32 to 36 inch waist. It is a road and track seat, not FIA approved, so it suits fast road use, shows and track days but not a scrutineered class. If you need an approved seat, the Monaco range is the next step up.
Clubman trim options
Because Cobra hand trim their seats, the Clubman comes in one or two colour combinations in a choice of materials, including fabric, vinyl, Amalfi and leather. The standard Clubman comes in fabric combinations such as black and blue, black and grey, or black and red, and you can move up to Cobra’s Signature trims for a wider choice.
There is also the Clubman 40th Edition, which marks Cobra’s fortieth year with a retro trim on the same seat. It suits a classic interior, and it has been popular enough that we keep it in stock in the showroom.

The Clubman in a Mazda MX-5
The Clubman's compact size makes it a common choice for tight cockpits, and the Mazda MX-5 is our most popular installation. The customer's MX-5 Mk1 here has a pair in black and red, fitted using Cobra's adaption bars.
The adaption bars are not a full frame. They bridge between the MX-5's own seat runners and the base of a Cobra base mounted, fixed back seat, so the seat bolts to the car's existing arrangement without major changes. Cobra make them for the MX-5 NA and NB, 1989 to 2005, and the kit comes with M8 bolts in several lengths, nuts and spacers to set the height.

This owner’s video shows a pair of Clubman seats being fitted to an MX-5 NB, and the process is the same on the NA. In it, the bars are adjusted to suit the tolerances between the adaption bars and the seat mounting points. That can be needed but is uncommon, and Cobra now supply the bars with small spacers that reduce the need to modify the M8 bolts. Garreth’s advice is to send us the car before ordering, so we can check the seat and bars go together.
