A Fresh Batch Of Bespoke And Custom Mirco FIA Bucket Seats Arrive

A new batch of Mirco bucket seats has just arrived, and it has restocked our FIA bucket seat display with the latest models. Every standard seat on the display can be sat in and tried in the showroom before you buy.
The delivery also brought a run of bespoke Mirco seats, specified by customers, which we checked over in the showroom before sending them on to their owners. They show just how far the Mirco options go, and this post walks through each one: the trim, the approval, the sizes and the drivers they suit.

What came in
This delivery did two jobs. It refilled our Mirco display with standard seats, mostly in black velour and 3D spacer fabric, which are the straightforward choices most customers go for. And it brought in bespoke seats that customers had specified, which came through the showroom so we could check the finish before they went out.
Mirco quote over 250 variations across fabric, stitching and shell colour, so no two bespoke orders look alike. Here is each one from this batch.
The seats arrive individually wrapped and boxed. Each bespoke seat is unpacked and checked against the order: the trim, the stitching colour, the shell colour and any embroidery.
Once it matches, it is packed again and sent on. The standard seats go straight onto the display.
Mirco RS2 3D in black and red, and in black and orange
Two of the bespoke seats were RS2s trimmed in 3D spacer fabric, a breathable mesh that lets air through and helps on long stints. The RS2 is a race seat with a fibreglass shell, deep side bolsters and lateral head support, homologated to FIA 8855-1999.
The first was black with red accents. The second had an orange shell with black 3D fabric and orange embroidered stitching, a bold look against a black cockpit.

Mirco Classic and GT Classic
Mirco Classic in black and red. This one was the road and track version of the Classic, which is not FIA homologated, so it suits road cars and track days, not competition. Mirco also make an FIA 8855-1999 version of the Classic for cars that race. This seat was trimmed in velour, with lower side bolsters that make it easier to get in and out of, which suits a dual purpose road and track car.

Mirco GT Classic in brown vinyl and suede. A period look on a modern FIA shell. This bespoke seat paired brown vinyl and suede with a light grey fibreglass back shell, which gives it a look of its own.

Embroidery is one of the most popular bespoke options. A team or driver name on the headrest area makes a set of seats unmistakably yours, and it is a common choice for race teams running more than one car.
Stitching colour is the other easy change. Orange, red or yellow thread on a black seat lifts a plain interior without changing the seat itself.
Mirco RTS-2, RTX-7 and GT
RTS-2 and RTX-7 in matching velour. A bespoke set in black velour with orange embroidery. Both are FIA 8855-1999 homologated. The RTS-2 has high bolsters for lateral support, while the RTX-7 gives extra support in the lower back.

GT in black and grey velour with custom embroidery. A bespoke pair with a black and grey split trim. The GT is FIA 8855-1999 homologated, with a hip width of 38 cm and a shoulder width of 59 cm, for a 32 to 36 inch waist.
RTS-2 in black velour with orange diamond stitching. Deep side bolsters and shoulder support, with orange diamond stitching that gives the seat a textured, high end look. FIA 8855-1999 homologated, fibreglass shell, 5 and 6 point harness compatible, hip width 39 cm and shoulder width 59 cm.
Standard black versions of the RTS-2, RTX-7 and GT are on the showroom display.

Ready made bespoke Mirco seats
For anyone who likes the idea of a custom seat but not the job of choosing every option, we also list a range of pre configured bespoke Mirco designs that can be ordered straight away. The FIA seats in that range are homologated to FIA 8855-1999 and built on fibreglass shells.
The standard seats on our display are in black velour and 3D spacer fabric, shown in pairs. Fully bespoke options are made to order. Garreth’s advice is to sit in the standard version first, to be sure of the size, and then choose the trim.

Are Mirco seats FIA approved?
Most Mirco competition seats are homologated to FIA 8855-1999. Some versions, such as the road and track Classic, are not, so check the listing.

What waist size does the Mirco RTS-2 suit?
It comes in two sizes, for a 32 to 36 inch waist or a 36 to 40 inch waist.
